The guy from the A8s fold, what size did he use with bluffs? What other tells did he have? I would probably beat this guy into the pot on the river needing to be good only 28% of the time. Why can’t his thought process be something like “well i’m probably not winning with my 76s/65s/55-22 that i peeled a small flop bet with, my opponent isn’t checking back Kx on the turn, he might also have bet an ace on the turn, so he must have JJ-77, which will always check back and win but might fold if i bluff river?” There are 24 combos of 55-22 alone, and only 49 combos of KQ-KT, Kxs, 66, AA-QQ, AK. And those last 9 combos might 3bet pre (and he might not defend all Kxs to an open).

That’s fair. I guess I’ll take the cop-out answer that there were some sizing/timing/live read factors that made me think he was confident. Try to argue with that!
