The World Series of Poker circuit event in North Carolina has come to an end (at least for me) and I have to say it was a pretty awesome event. It was great to see so many people come out for an event in my home state…especialyl considering Cherokee is pretty much in the middle of nowhere.
I'm frustrated with my results (0 for 6) but very happy with my play. I made some great plays that worked most of the time, some good calls in crucial pots based on live reads, and felt like my game was spot on most of the time. I survived fairly deep in to the first day of the main event despite taking some pretty bad beats along the way. Unfortunately I eventually got my last ~12bbs in against AA and was sent to the rail.
This was by far the softest field I've ever played in. There were certainly some good players amongst the crowd, but I would say 80% of the players were god awful. They all need TPE memberships!
One of the best parts of the event was getting to meet a ton of cool TPE members. One thing that still continues to amaze me is the number of people who come up to me and tell me that they love the podcasts. Some of them are not even members, but said they listen to every episode. Apparently we need to get better at putting those out more often! 🙂
I'll be playing online a bit over the next month, but for the most part I am just going to chill and rest up (mentally and physically) for the summer in Vegas. So stoked to get out there and start grinding MTTs again.
Thanks to everyone who followed my progress at Cherokee on Twitter…it's always nice to have people pulling for you.
See you at the tables!
