Hey guys, unfortunately I was a bit unwell last week, so I couldn’t bring you the “what’s new” for last week. So this week I have a double edition! Being the poker addict I am, I still managed to find time for playing poker, as you will see in the member scores. Maybe I should get sick more often!
Over the past couple of weeks, we have had Cougars4444 continue his hand history review for “insidiously”, DannyN13 had brought us his Merge High Rollers hand history review, and ttwist has given us the start of a Micro Millions Live Sweat.

Cougars4444 Member Hand History Review for Insidiously
In part 2 “insidiously” continues with around 30bb, and gradually starts to open up his game as the antes kick in and starts to build his stack nicely. There are some interesting spots where Cougars4444 debates the merits of raise-calling a 20bb stack as opposed to open shoving it. He also talks about the merits of stealing out of the SB and the dynamics it can set up for when you have a decent hand. The blinds seems to be scooting along and soon we are back down to 15bb but insidiously picks his spots nicely to double whenever he gets short including a huge triple up right near the end of the video.
In part 3 the whole table is getting pretty short, so it is a good time to be putting pressure on these stacks, and “insidiously” does this by starting to 3bet a little wider and it isn’t long before we get someone to spew and are up to 51bb. Soon it is final table, and cougars does well to pick up a couple of little leaks like defending the blinds too wide, as well as min raising blind vs blind against a short stack instead of just shoving. Five handed he gets a huge double-up, and then does a great job of controlling the table from that point until he runs into a couple of cooler spots late and unfortunately finishes third.
Merge High Rollers Final Table Hand History Review with DannyN13
In part 2, DannyN13 starts off with a bit over 40bb. There is a very interesting hand early where the villain check-min-raises the flop and Danny decides to float with K high and then barrel turn. Interestingly he actually has showdown value and takes the pot with K high! He then gets a nice double with JJ to get up to 80bb.
In part 3 Danny continues his aggression and great post flop play, including a pretty interesting hand with AK high early on. He also advocates limping blind vs blind occasionally, which could generate some interesting dynamics. During the video he gets a little short and so there is some interesting open shove and resteal spots, especially as it gets to the final table bubble. Soon enough it is the final table and Danny comes in 6th in chips. Early on there is a great spot where villain’s river bet looks scary but Danny correctly ranges villain and makes a great call with third pair, for a pretty significant pot.
In part 4, we return 6 handed and Danny has around 35bb, and he continues with the aggression, whilst being mindful of the big stack, especially when out of position, and soon enough he gets a huge double to take the chip lead. After the double he can ramp the aggression up a lot. Unfortunately he loses a key flip 5 handed where he would have had twice the rest of the field combined, but all is not lost, and it is back to the grind with nearly 40bb still. Three handed there is a great hand where Danny varies his bet sizing to make it look bluffy and try to induce the big stack to shove. Although he gets short he gets gifted a double up and all the stacks are even three handed.
In part 5, everyone is around 40bb deep so there is still potentially a lot of play left, and there is a really sick hand where Danny’s hand reading skills come to the fore and he makes a great call on the river, unfortunately for a chopped pot though. A huge double three handed really sets up the tourney and he really doesn’t look back from that point on. There is close to 50 hands of heads up play, so if you are looking to brush up on your heads up play, this is a great video!
Micro Millions Live Sweat with ttwist
As our non-US members know, Pokerstars recently had its Micro Millions series again, and this has sprung ttwist into action! He gives us a four table live sweat, starting off with the Micro Millions Event 3, which is a $3.3 40k gtd, as well as a $8 $3k gtd, a $5 5k gtd, and a $1 2.5k gtd. Early on he stresses the importance, of conserving chips rather than opening when you have 20bb, because of the fact that you cannot cbet when called. As might be expected in a $3 tournament with over 30 thousand people in it, he gets gifted a double early on, and then make sure you don’t have your headphones up too loud, because its straight flush time! At the end of part one ttwist has managed to build his stack in the micro millions event to over 150bb! In part two the grind continues into the early ante period, so ttwist opens up his range a lot more, especially given that three of the tables are 6max. There is an interesting dynamic in the MM event because there is an absolute maniac on ttwist’s right so he goes through the adjustments that should be made.
Forum
The forums have been a lot more active since the WSOP has finished, I guess people have come back from their summer trip to Vegas and it is back to the online grind.
“ShortStackJack” posts a nice hand about his thoughts on a recent Borgata tourney that he played
“dead7s” posts a thread in the mental game forum asking whether great poker players are born or built?
