They man,
The AKo spot. With villan HUD stats as they, are we not concerned that the raise size weuse looks incredibly strong and that he may flat things like 99 or AQ. What situations iif at all would you consider flatting? With this raise size, what does your entire range look like?
Thanks

Just watched it again. You mention that we are playing it as a semi-bluff, what does the rest of that range look like? Are you saying we have a 3bet fold range?

Great series. You do a really good job of explaining your thought process. Very useful. At about 26:20 you fold KTcc from sb to a button 3x raise with 30 bb stack. I couldn’t see how many chips button had, but wonder if this is standard fold. Also, do you think raising is better than flatting if you choose not to fold. Thanks!

Unless you have a specific read you are exploiting, you should have a range for folding when you 4b less than all in. If you’re always going to call off anyway, then you might as well just shove.
This player’s stats may well make this such a situation. In that case, your “light” 4bets are still hands (like AK) where you’re going to get it in, but where you don’t expect to be a favorite. If the small 4b gives him some perceived fold equity with AQ, great. If it convinces him to call with AQ when he would have folded to a shove, that’s good too.

Good question. I think it had a lot to do with the fact that he 3xed it and had kinda nitty stats (though his ATS was 40…). Calling and 3b are both pretty awkward in this spot, which is why I folded. If you forced me to play it, I guess I’d call, but calling just generally sucks, especially when you are out of position and not getting particularly good odds and not closing the action.
The Riceman
Hello Andrew,
I am hoping to be hit with a bolt of +ev wisdom lightning here! At 1802 ish flushklaus shoves his last ten big blinds. I understand you have to make a move in this spot, but you talk of the call as being the standard play without a player specific read. In my game the standard play here (and I’m in danger here of give for free a priceless nugget of Riceman strategy) is to 3bet (not all-in). Surely both allen and razzler have stacks that might favour a squeeze shove and would have fold equity vs your stack, representing as they do a signifigant % of your stack each? I’m hoping my idea and question isn’t wildly missing some fundamental piece of poker logic and folk aren’t sniggering at my foolish notion of a 3bet here, to me a call is just asking for trouble?
