The first hand with the A 6, why did you raise the river instead of just call? In my mind he isn’t folding better and he isn’t calling with less. Isn’t just calling here a better play, as you’re just turning showdown value into a bluff, and what was your thought process for playing the hand the way you did?
Just looking at the spot that you 3bet utg open with KQo and get cold4balled by Jamil in the sb.
I think this is a debatable call because you need approximately 27% equity given the pot odds, however against any reasonable range (For example TT+, Ajs+, AQo+ which might be too wide still IMO given what we have seen and the fact that the original raiser is UTG etc…) we have JUST the right amount of equity; making this a very marginal spot.
The call itself costs 1/3rd of our remaining stack and if we fold it here we have 26bb to work with and when we call we have either 17bb the majority of the time or 46bb.
My questions are:
-Does it warrant taking such a marginal high variance spot where the edge is minimal if it actually exists given that you can find plenty of spots with a 26bb stack?
-I can see the drop in strategic options between 26bb and 17bb as something very significant (not being able to raise/fold anymore for one) while the increase to 46bb is not as significant because not all stacks are 46bb effective. What are your thoughts on this issue?
I think Danny believed the EV(raise) > EV(call), the only way this is true is if he believed there was a significant portion of villains range that value bets thinly on river and then folds.
-Villain defends out of the sb, so automatically his hand is weighted towards small pairs and broadways. Given the runout it is unreasonable to believe that there exist enough combos of hands that beat ours but fold to a raise. I really like this raise alot more if villain was in the bb.
What do you put danny on that makes that play for value? It seems to me that for danny to check back the flop his hand has to have a percieved showdown component (indeed he did on this occasion), so hands that can take this line are primarily Jxcc combos which there are not that many of given pf dynamic. You would expect Danny to cbet QT hands on the flop and most people wouldn’t expect you to thin value raise KJ on the river so…
I thought most of the content was very good nice video. However, I really was thrown off by your excitement/enthusiasm when you won just a single pot, or when you get it in dead and beg to win. I figure this is standard for most less experienced players, but come on act like you’ve been there before. Seems tough to be playing your best and making optimal decisions with emotions running like that.
Glad you enjoyed the content!
When you are backed for two years and finally get on your on roll and satty to a $700 main event ( my avg buyin is about $50) and make a deep run while recording Live with life changing money on the line, it is kind of exciting to me. I figured members would want an exciting/enthusiastic live sweat rather than just monotone commentary. If I was at a live tournament I would “act like i’ve been there before” but I see no reason to do that behind my computer screen.
For the other comments thanks for the feedback and I will have a look over parts of the vid and answer your questions soon. I was travelling at the time this series fired on tpe so didn’t want to comment on strategy hands without rewatching first.

Nice Vid series! Love the reaction to the donk tanking with 1bb left behind, “this can’t be real” too funny.

I’d be folding AJ to that river raise a lot.

I look at my cards and see ace and jack and then I look at board and see flush and straight and say OMG 2 PAIRS NO GOOD. I’m not very good at poker.
