Uncle Jah
Look, call me dumb but im struggling to understand exactly what you mean by ‘putting numbers to everything’ could somebody please explain
Ephesianpaul
Uncle, he’s saying do the math on a current play. Like when he says if you call on the flop how often does it go check all the way to showdown meaning you probably shouldn’t call the flop bet if you’re not intending to go all the way to showdown. Another example is if the aggressor bets flop, checks turn, and then bets river, most times you should fold the river because as Alex has stated before, people’s calling profitability on the river is -EV usually. Again just another reason to fold a lot of flops with marginal holdings.
Another would be how much does a bet size need to work in order to be profitable. If I bet 1/2 pot, the bet needs to work only 1 in 3 times to break even or (33%). If I bet full pot, the play needs to work 1 in 2 times or 50% to break even. Does this help?
