Hi Daryl! I’m not happy with the result of this hand because I would have bet/folded this flop because of his stack, us being utg, call being too high variance etc., but I still wanna thank you for making these vids, it’s really helping me to think about every single possible way to play a hand. Keep it up!
Just an awesome series, thanks for doing this. Questions:
When wrapping up decision to CB, you say that you have the BDFD which is always good. Just to clarify, in this spot the 7h its way more valuable as a blocker to combo draws that are c/r’ing than it is for making the flush and/or bluffing later streets, correct?
How much do you factor in a healthy-ish/shorter stack c/r’ing into a big stack? Against a random, shouldn’t this be stronger, in general?
Can’t a jam on flop be a weird sort of range merge, where he’s calling w/flush draws but folding 9x, TT, JJ, or is that way too optimistic? Like you said, it just seems like we’re never 3B bluffing in this spot.
The replayer on here isnt working for me at the moment so I cant answer any of the questions. Also if you remember what time in the video I should go to let me know. If u dont I can just find it myself.
You have some great reasoning in your hand analysis. Yet, I am finding it difficult to reason a call there at the river. It appeared to be to be a steal attempt that, still having snagged an ace on the turn, but not have enough equity to make a lighter value bet on the river. I was figuring him for maybe a AT/AJ of hearts.
I don’t understand how quickly you were to discredit his perception of us having an AX broadway type of hand. Nor is it obvious to me why AhX is going to be jamming over his flop check-raise most of the time. It seems to me that you’re saying that because we didn’t jam over his check-raise on the flop that we don’t have an Ah and since we don’t have an Ah the probability of our having another ace is lowered so significantly that it’s barely worth considering. When I see that check-raise though what I’m inclined to think is that he might be trying to push us off an AX type of hand since the majority of our range from utg+1 are AX types of hand, especially since his check-raise is so large that it really looks like he’s trying (though somewhat ineptly) to give us the worst price for drawing to overcards that he can. I feel like when we failed to bet the turn that we confirmed that we don’t have an ace and that allowed him to place that ill-conceived bet on the river. If he’d made a more standard value bet on the river it would’ve been more difficult to call, but the overbet belied the impression that he was trying to bet for value.
I’m by no means saying that I disagree with your analysis and feel like I’m learning quite a bit from this series, but it’s just not evident to me why you were so easily able to say that after the way the flop was played that we don’t have many aces in our range.
Really enyoing the series so far… I agree with all your GREAT analysis. As the hand played, I just keep thinking of the other line going a little deep that you just pointed for a second in the vid, maybe a small bet on the turn, something between ‘13050-14655???’.Because when we check it back i think villian will be very inclined to bluff almoust any river?Plus betting in here small I think we rep strong hands. But if we go and check our perceived range is that we are checking back very marginal showdown hands more than not imo…
I think after leading the turn small then get it in in the river in any… ‘heart, club and J,T,8,7,5,3???’
I wouldn’t had find this river call as played myself in game, but overall the analysis I actually get it why u call, really loving this vids…
what do u think about this line?
very hard to listen to someone who sounds like an Isaac Haxton impersonator and also the yawning and tearing shit plus ppl in the back ground. titlting
I think the concepts behind this series are interesting and informative; however, it would probably be much more effective if the author used some visual aids, and then try and catagorize some of his approches to hand reading.
Great video but don’t understand where villain was coming from other than being a bad player or trying to bluff. I personally would have bet 2/3 of his stack after flop, which I am sure he would have folded giving him the chance to knock me out later. I would also like to hear reasoning behind c/r call instead of folding re-raising.
Instead of complaining about the crackling sounds and yawning Negative Nancy try paying attention to the lesson.

on the river with his value range, 35 makes sense doesnt it?
great series

Yeah I thought 53 and 22 both made sense, although 53 might not be in his range pre
