Curious what are you doing:
if he raises the turn.
if a J or 9 comes on the river.
regarding the size of your bet on the turn, don’t you thing it is better to bet larger?

“if he raises the turn.”
get it in
“if a J or 9 comes on the river.”
You mean 8 or 9? Tricky. I guess bet small again and fold to shove.
“regarding the size of your bet on the turn, don’t you thing it is better to bet larger?”
because…

because you said you don’t want him to take a “free” card, in that case you give him the opportunity to see a “cheap” card with all his draws.

If my choice is getting folds to a larger raise or calls for this size, I’d rather have the calls. Those draws we’re talking about are all four-outers (about 8% to hit on river) with some dirty outs as well. If he calls with 87 on the turn and makes trips, that’s good for me. Now if you think those draws will call a larger bet, that’s a case for betting bigger, but your goal should be to build a pot against them.
It’s worth keep in mind also how strong my range is here. I mean, I’m not really check-calling the flop with a lot of weak hands that I can turn into bluffs on the turn.
