July has wrapped. It was my first (nearly) month back on the online grind after the World Series of Poker and I’m pretty happy with where my game is at the moment. In terms of results, I had about a 40% ROI over about 400 tournaments. I also had a couple of near misses that would have made a big impact on that number including a 10th in the Winning Poker major (would have been my 4th time making that final table) and a 10th in the Bovada $35K. But, as much as that hurt at the time, I’m cool with it because deep runs are always followed by wins from my experience.
One thing I have done is found a nice groove with my schedule that keeps my tables to a maximum of about 8 throughout my session. Sometimes if does get higher, but usually only when I’m just not busting anything early, which is a good problem to have I suppose. As part of this I have relegated a few tourneys that used to be must plays for me to tourneys that I will register only if I have the screen space. Overall this has kept the session chaos to a little bit more of a minimum and has allowed me to focus more on the players at my table.
One thing I am still struggling with a bit is the lack of synch breaks on Bovada. We have joked about it on Twitter and in podcasts, but it really is a challenge that no doubt impacts my results in the long run. At some point you just have to go! It also makes eating tough. Luckily I have the greatest wife in the world and she is nice enough to bring me food when I need it.
In TPE news, me and Matt wil be recording a new episode of Midstakes Living with a guest that I am pretty stoked about. So stay tuned for that later this afternoon!
I’m coming off of a nice two day break and I will be back at the virtual felt tonight. If you are playing good luck to you and we’ll see you at the tables!
