Always a big fan of your stuff, Mike.
Its kind of hard not to be results-oriented, but I feel strongly that we should just be shoving that AQ UTG. Math-wise its fine, and I think equity gained by folding out all of their small-mid pairs is greater than the equity we lose by trying to get action from AJ/KQ. Plus, I think if these hands wanted to play against the minraise, they’d be calling a shove.
I just prefer to take away the advantage that the bigger stacks have against us.
Mike, I can’t say thanks enough for this video. It’s the first one I’ve seen from you, and I can’t wait for future ones. I never comment on vids, but I had to on this series. It was by far the most instructional vid I’ve ever seen on any training site. Other than being a leafs fan (Go ‘Nucks), GREAT STUFF SIR!
ITs 13:37 I think shoving AQ utg 15-16 bigs we lose a lot of value. Because a shove with our BBs will never seen as light so we never get a call from any much worse. I think villain call ranges vary a bit but i think 4,7% and then we’re crushed against that range People fold A10,AJ which they might shove on us if we just open it up. I agree that shoving is the least var play but I think AQ is too good to just pick up those blinds. From co i might agree especially if there are only 10-14 bb stacks left eg cuz then it looks the weakest.
i this d raise to induce here my whole value range. I d rather shove 77-1010 here and induce with all others.buz with 1010 we dont want to get KQ to reshove. althought it looks unlikely for KQ to reshove on us if we raise from that position.
I’m still pretty torn with this spot, pro’s & con’s with both shoving and min-raising….14.5BB’s utg, 15+ I def prefer min, -13 I def like shove…this is right in the middle where I will usually decide based on position, table dynamics etc…
really love this series, and all of your stuff mike, well done!
A mix game video would be great. personally i would love a theory video that ran though each of the games in the 8 game rotation for instance and just gave some pointers in each game, specifically relating to tournaments. i dont know about others, but except for holdem and cash plo i am really at the beginner level, so going through the concepts of stud and how to apply them to a tourney would be awesome.
Very thorough analysis of so many poker ideas – always be aware of other stacks (esp shove stacks behind), ranging other’s hands, good squeeze spots (even if u don’t take them), bet sizing (yours and what other’s mean) etc. etc. nice that you replay a lot of hands for explanation. The results are irrelevant – you don’t have to get to final table to learn a lot about tourney strategy so glad video was shown even without getting super deep.
Good series to watch, listen and learn. A couple high variance spots that had they worked this might have been a couple episodes longer. Enjoyed it, thanks Mike.
