Happy Monday TPE, I hope that the weekend treated everyone well. Had an up and down go at things for the weekend on my end. I had another top 60 run in the 35k on FTP friday night, a 29th in the Turbo 3k on FTP yesterday and a 49th in a 2r on AP yesterday which all felt really good. The Mini ME and Mini #44 were nothing but frustrating. I think I played solidly, but I just couldn't get anything into gear. I have adapted very nicely to a much more LAG style which I am very comfortable playing, but I am finding that when it doesn't get off the ground early it turns my tourneys into that 20bb grind for much of it and at some point you need to keep winning flips to survive and I just didn't get those critical wins in either of those tourneys. Not terribly disappointed with the results as I did best large numbers of the fields, just didn't manage to get any cash for my effort but oh well. Saturday I focused on my STEP tournament challenge. I played on Pokerstars and I managed to get 13 tourneys in during the couple hours I was able to play. So first some logistal things about how I am scoring the challenge before you get the results so far. So I started with $100. Each time I play a STEP tournament I deduct the buyin from my total. Depending on how I finish I add the monetary result back into the total, therefore potentially allowing me to show a "profit" in the sense that the more high level tickets I earn, then I can go over $100 effective dollars. Not sure if it is an ideal scoring system, but for now it is the one I have so I'm running with it. I am open to suggestions though on tweaks. Okay, so now for the fun part, the results. After 13 tourneys I am holding a STEP 3 ticket, 2 STEP 2 tickets and 2 STEP 1 tickets and a couple of 4th finishes in STEP 1 for $1.50 each. My SnG game is pretty strong so the results are pretty much in line with what I would expect for myself. The pace of these games firing up is a little frustrating, but certainly tolerable. I do however find it hard to play MTTs while I play SnGs due to the radically different strategies. I think for me it is just very difficult to be in push/fold mode on some tables and deep stacked on others (some of the problem that I think I was having yesterday as well, but what you gonna do). So good news overall, I have 1 ticket that is halfway there ($82 level). I am going to continue to work some this week on building more tickets as so far this is pretty fun. Tonight should be a solid ticket chasing night, tomorrow though will be a big MTT night as well as a session with Wein. I am hoping that he can help me see whatever the problem is with my mid stage play as I think that is principly what is holding up my really deep runs. I'll let you know how it goes. For now this is the Gman signing out!
