Hey Guys,

I doubt anyone reads my blog, partly due to the fact that I don't write anything.  But I hear writing a blog is therapeutic, so I am going to start.

Poker is going pretty well, I went on like a 2k DS in cash last week, but the last two days I caught fire and made it back + more 🙂

I have barely played any MTTs this past month which is not good, but I have figured out why I think.  It is hard to play both MTTs and cash, not because of the differences in playing styles, but the differences in the variance etc..  When you play cash you are expecting more of a steady stream of money.  MTTs you are aware you are not going to profit most days, so it doesn't really affect you.  So if I am grinding cash, it is hard for me to play the milly, cause that's 1 buy in I am 85% sure i will never see again, where as in cash i am 60% sure i will.  Not the right way to think about it but still…..

Anyway, I am trying to move up to 3/6 this year which is goal #1.  I actually played 3/6 for the first time today b/c the fish challenged me to HU at 3/6 and he is possibly the biggest fish on the entire merge network.  I sat him, he won $70 and quit me.  He said I don't want to play this low, lets play 5/10(he plays .5/1 normally).  I said okay.  So I insta go to skype and mssg my friend and my coach who is a sick cash game grinder and work something out so I don't have all of my action.  Then I wait, and he doesn't show up.  Huge beat, I would have had like 50% of my action and that is def worth 1k against this guy (he would standard open to $54 at 3/6 just as an example of how bad he was.)  So I keep looking for him, and he is sitting at .5/1 HU.  Now he is still a huge soft spot, so I have no problem dropping down in stakes to play him.

I sit and ask him why he won't play me at $5/$10.  He says things like "you are my bitch" and " I own you".  But never answers me.  I proceed to stack him and talk the most trash I have ever talked in my life.  This is a fish who you can talk trash to, because he believes he is Phil Ivey and you calling him out makes him want to play your more, and causes him to make rediculous challenges (10/20 one time?)  I own him for a little longer, (he has a betsizing tell) and then he quits saying I am his bitch lolz.  So i am up like $30ish on this guy, and he claims he is up $1200 on me?  which is kinda lolz but w/e.  I follow him and try to stir up some more high stakes action, but he doesn't comply and i am pretty 🙁 for the day.  He hits and runs, but if you get him stuck, I am sure you can take his whole bankroll which would be so juicy 🙂

So that whole episode finished and I only have $30 to show for all that work trying to drum up action lolz, but it is a good story so w/e.   I dream of getting him to sign a contract to play me in some type of durrrr challenge, but I guess that won't be happening anytime soon.  At least he caused me to write this blog, because it is kinda hard to play 200nl when you just had the biggest fish in the world HU at 600nl, so i decided to cool off and write a little.

The moral of this story is, I guess if you get an opportunity to play higher against someone you are sure you have an edge on(the tournament equiv. would be the Sunday Million) take it.  The game is hard these days, and if you are young/single then you can stand to lose a few $$$ and be agro with your bankroll when a juicy opportunity comes along.  Bankroll mgt. is super important, but so is shot taking.  Don't make poker a grind 24/7.  Take a shot at a juicy game/ tourney once and a while to remind you why you play.  Like the legendary Chip Reese said, "Sometimes you gotta gamble."
