Well I was back at the tables last night and ended the night a might bit annoyed overall. I played a hand fun of 10 man SnG's and some 10NL cash and just couldn't get my mojo flowing. I took a bunch of hits and just couldn't seem to string anything together and worse yet gave away a bunch on a couple of hands that are frankly embarassing overall. So what did I do? A year or so ago I would have said, "dammit, crap luck tonight" and moved on. Thankfully it is a year later and I am wiser to say the least (at least in the ways of the felt). I took the time to stop the bleeding, go back to my HEM and look at the hands. Replay what was going on and take a look at the situations from a fresh perspective. Turns out this was some pretty insightful stuff. I have ebbed back to a very familiar problem, playing way to much OOP. It is something that I have struggled with some and that Wein and I worked on a lot early on, but I seem to have a pension for playing OOP with marginal holdings way too much and it costs. You don't really appreciate it sometimes in the tournament universe because the chips have no absolute meaning. When you start to hemmorage chips in a cash game, believe me, you notice. I think that is another nice benefit of playing them, you tend not to ignore your mistakes, but rather they get highlighted for you. We'll see if I smarten up enough to do anything about it, but I am hopeful. Not much else is happening, planning on playing some more tonight as well. I am trying to get myself focused and playing effectively as I have a trip coming up that is in the neighborhood of some poker rooms and I am planning on squeezing in some more play so I don't want to hemmorage there. Stay tuned for more as it comes. This is the Gman signing out!
