This one will be a quicky, not much happened yesterday. I went to Blackhawk, Colorado to check out the town and the casinos and sneak in some poker play. Gotta say it was a pretty cool little town, very clean. The casino's are impeccable, very clean. There were some downsides, average age is dinosaur. I went with the intention of sitting at the Golden Gates Casino where they play the HPT stops, but rapidly changed my plans. Was very not impressed. I'm not sure how they swing it on TV, but they make that poker room look a ton better than it did in person. I took a wander across the road to the Ameristar which was a much nice outfit and enjoyed a couple of hours of entertainment. I made about half a buyin, but it took me some time to get used to the rules here. They play $1/$2 NLHE but because of Colorodo state law there is a $100 max bet that can be made. It seems to have a lot of odd psychological effects that I didn't or couldn't really figure out. I actually abandoned the $1/$2 game and wandered over to play the $2/$5 with the $100 bet cap as the cap really seemed to protect my potential losses since it was much harder to push stacks. I was straddling to attempt to build pots as the betting was pretty shallow with the cap and wow, was that received poorly. The game didn't last terribly long as apparently I was a big disruption to the normal flow of their game, so I went to wandering around the town and seeing what it looked like. Managed to sneak in some $2 craps which was entertaining (except I was the only guy at the table) and otherwise called it a night. Looking forward to getting home, probably won't go back to play today as it just wasn't all that grand. I was a lot more comfortable playing which was nice, but I really want to get back to normal.
