Great series! Been enjoying it very much.
Curious in this part, I’ve already noticed that your opening bet sizing varies. Can you discuss this a bit as from my understanding you want to keep opening sizes generally the same.
Two examples, I think at 12.5/35k you make it 75ish with AA then a few hands later you open it to 86k at same lvl. (can’t remember exact holding) Watching this again at 19:00 mark you open K7s to 94k (at 40k/80k) then you open KQs up to 86k at same lvl.

Just past the 33 minute mark when you have a7o on button i would guess villain had KQ. Would you say they played that terribly if so?

Thanks for watching!
I vary my open sizings, very slightly, by position. I open to just over 2x (around 2.1x) in every position through to the hijack, and from the cutoff and button I open a little more, usually closer to 2.25x. This is based on a lot of analysis I did in Holdem Manager where I established that my EVbb/100 was much higher from those positions when I raised slightly bigger – certainly significantly higher than when I minraised.
This is as a result of being 3bet less often, and steals being more successful. The extra few chips you add to your bet can make a huge difference in how people respond.
Note that I don’t vary my opening ranges dependent upon my range, or even my hand – purely by position. I also open to around 2.5x from the small blind vs the big blind, or maybe a little less if the big blind is very tight or stacks are shorter and he’s unlikely to flat. Similarly, I 3bet bigger out of position and smaller in position, but I think everyone does that.

Yes, I would. I think 3betting to a full 3x with anything there is unnecessary, and I think 3betting KQ and flatting a 4bet would usually be a little spewy, since he can so easily flat and take a flop vs a range he mostly crushes.
Once I 4bet him he can certainly peel some value hands, and KQ isn’t the worst one to do so with, but I certainly prefer peeling pre. Once we get to the flop, I really hate his check/raise. The reason is that he loses value from so many of my hands, and really only stands to get it in against hands that beat him. Most of my hands that flop draws on that kind of flop (strong suited connector-type hands), I would just call his 3bet with, so when I 4bet bluff in position like that I’m polarized to hands that I just snapfold to his check/raise because they have no value (random Ax offsuit hands, random Queen highs, etc), or hands that he’s beaten by. If he just check/calls my cbet, he might get another barrel out of me.
Essentially, I think on both streets he just tried to play a much bigger pot than he should. Even though we’re 5-handed, KQ is not the nuts preflop or on the flop in a 4bet pot.

thanks. very helpful. i’ve already been messing around with this.

I noticed you seem to c-bet a lot in the hands you play. Do you have a checking or c/r or delayed c-bet range when you are the pre-flop aggressor?
