Just kidding. I love live poker, and I’m stoked to be heading to the Dominican Republic to play in the Punta Cana Poker Classic with some of the other TPE guys. I’ve heard great things about this series, specifically that it is super soft, so can’t wait to get down there and play. My plan is to fire two bullets (if required) at the main event and then play 2-3 side events and sattys. Shortly after that I will be heading to Cherokee, NC for the World Series of Poker Circuit stop. No idea what I will be playing there yet, as they just released the schedule, but I hope to be there for the entire series.
In terms of online poker, finding time to grind lately has been a bit of a challenge as things have been so busy with TPE. We recently recorded and released a new Tournament Poker Edge Podcast, and I also was a “guest host” on the Chirp Herm Show. And to make life even crazier we’ve had NINE dogs in our house! Some of you might know that my wife and I foster dogs for a local beagle rescue. Usually this means one extra dog in our house (in addition to the two we own) but for the last two weeks we had a mother and 6 puppies here as well. This seems like a good time to insert a cute puppy picture.
When I have found time to grind, I’ve run pretty breakeven, despite some decent deep runs and final tables. In fact, over the last three weeks my ROI is exactly -3%. We’re going to turn that around before the month is over! On a brighter note, I’m happy to say that I have been really good about my diet and exercise lately. Down about 5 pounds and exercising almost every day. I’ve also been having a ton of fun grinding online lately. I went through a little stretch where I was definitely starting to get a little tilty, but I think my attempts and meditation, better diet and exercising is helping a lot in that regard.
If anyone is hitting Punta Cana or the NC WSOPc stop, make sure and let me know as I’d love to meet up and have a beer or three! And as always you can follow me on Twitter for all of the latest and greatest poker updates.
Last but not least, in an attempt to find new grind music other than the Counting Crows, I’ve found a new appreciation for Bruce Springsteen and the Nebraska album in particular. I heard this dude on the Howard Stern Show doing a cover of Atlantic City and was insta-hooked.
Don’t worry though, I still break out the metal for final tables. Lately I’ve been on a Life of Agony kick. Especially this live set.
