What are everyone's favorite places for dinner breaks?

Have only played one event so far and wound up buying some stuff from Starbucks with a meal voucher. Definitely need to diversify this go around. Thanks!

If you stay there, the rooms have a fridge. I always hit fresh&easy and buy a bunch of expired prepared stuff for half price. That way I can run upstairs and grab something (not to mention pee in my own toilet).

I hesitate to use the #nitcast hashtag because even though the food is marked down, it's still more expensive than buying a loaf of bread from the day-old bakery and a jar of peanut butter at Walmart.

As far as “real” options go, there are vendors that will deliver you healthy food. The prepared food at Starbucks, for example, isn't that bad, just expensive. There's some food options near the sportsbook as well, but they cook to order, and it's a long walk.

So is leaving the Rio and being back in under 90 min even feasible?

Yes. Krung Thai on Decatur is a solid place, I’ve been there three times on WSOP dinner breaks and always made it back with plenty of time to spare (often back at Rio with half hour left on clock). Quick and good food, friendly staff. and they’ll make just about any of their dishes with tofu instead of meat if you ask.

I also like Mt. Everest indian food though it’s a bit further away on Sahara. Not quite as quick either, could be pushing it on the dinner break but if you are with someone who isn’t playing they can drop you off and then park.

All American Dave is the best value you will find in the Rio, not cheap but at least you get quality food.

Having access to some of your own food is great too. How long are you in town? I have a car and will probably make a Whole Foods run some time in the next few days.

Thanks as always Andrew!

Krung Thai definitely looks like a solid option and will be checking that out. Not in town till next Friday the 12th, but definitely appreciate the WF offer. Goal is obviously to have several dinner break decisions to be made (fingers crossed), so may try and get some groceries on the night of 12th or 13th.

So does All American Dave do 1 off meals or just meal plans? His hours on the site also say 10am-3pm…

Those hours are for a food cart somewhere else, he's at WSOP like 10 – 10 or something like that. You don't need a meal plan, and in fact unless you buy his stuff REALLY often they aren't worth getting. You can just place an order at the food truck outside by the bathrooms and either pick it up (takes 5 – 10 minutes to make) or have them deliver it to your seat.

I rarely eat on breaks, but have heard a legend that there is a Subway in Gold Coast for those of you looking for an inexpensive quick sorta-kinda heatlhy Fast Food option.  I usually have a couple of beers for dinner 🙂

You should also be able to walk to the Palms food court for Earl of Sandwich and get back in 90 minutes. Ping Pang Pong at Gold Coast is tasty, but not sure about speed of service during the dinner break.

I realize this is a month-old thread, but I just went to Pho Vietnam on the main event dinner break (I know, sick brag) because my other favorite pho place “Pho Bosa” was inexplicably closed.  Pho Vietnam was good, not too pricy, and super convenient from the back lot of the Rio – I made it back with 20 minutes to spare and could have been faster.

I used to go to the amusingly named Pho Kim Long on dinner breaks but last couple of years I've run into crowd/time problems.

Another close option is Lee's Sandwiches – very good Vietnamese Sandwiches for $5-ish bucks.
