my first trip to vegas, wondering if anyone can answer a question regarding preregistration. if i wire the rio money but then decide i would rather use some of the $ for cash tables rather than tourney play can you get cash from them?
i THINK the answer to this is yes. But im not 100% sure so don't quote me on that.

I'd like to know how the rake jives with the structure (starting stack, levels, time per level) to more clearly see which are the best buys. This is probably too much to ask since this is really just a shell game the casinos use to confuse us kinda like buying a car based on interest rate, sticker price, down payments, incentives, etc.
If I recall correctly, Diego did something last year where he looked at all the info and figured out which were the best deals. I think he talked about it on a podcast. Maybe I'll go back and find that and compare it to the info on the spreadsheet to see what has changed.
I'm afraid the spreadsheet I made did not go in-depth to quantitatively analyze the best deals. It was to just look at two WSOP structures side by side and get a sense for how fast the tourneys with smaller chips to start plays.
Here's a link to it. If anyone wants to add to it for rake and better analysis feel free!

New member, first post. Aloha!
Another variable is what I will coin as “winnability” or how a tournament's structure, expected field and payout size, and buyin pricepoint will define the field and how a player would define his or her edge (or lack thereof) against said expected field. Basically beatability, or how difficult it is to fade the field vs how much is available to win vs how much it costs to enter with a given structure.
Its kind of like factoring in the field of the early morning old man single table satty's against the WSOP daily deepstacks against the Binion's tournies such as you experienced last summer.
Its a bit esoteric, and each player would have to subjectively consider these factors in addition to the basic structure/rake analysis as part of their schedule design.
If one is rolled for it… the monster stack June 26 WSOP event 51 is must see TV. Huge stack to start, hour levels, WSOP structure, huge field. I assume a (potentially significant) portion of the field will lack the patience or experience to adjust to the deeeeeep structure; they will be used to not waiting around for great spots which will come or may punt a big slice of their stack with one pair. Given my time (and bank) roll, this is the event around which I am building my end of June trip. I hope to see you there. I hope my table draw doesn't suck, LOL.

TPE Meetup will be June 6/2014, this has been decided based on the wsop schedule, there is not a big Nlh event that day other than the seniors event and we want to have as many people at this event as possible so June 6th it is.
Is this open to non-TPE people too?

For people who don't have some form of spreadsheet.. Here it is in all it's glory. This lists all tournie series going on during the WSOP.
TY TY! Came to this thread hoping to find a spreadsheet. I have had some good online success lately after diving in to the TPE community and learning a ton. A nice bink the other night is going to allow me to get out to WSOP for the first time this year. No dates set yet but hope for 4-5 days in Vegas, probably focusing on venetian and other small buy-in events. Hope to meet a few of the TPE guys while out there and sooo excited to come play!
Edit: Might try and be out there for June 6 for the TPE meetup, where can I get more info on this (time, place)?

I was wondering if I should, or KB could maybe start a thread for “Where are you playing today/tomorrow?” Type thing. Where players who won't be at the Rio so much may have an opportunity to meet and say Hi and such. I'll be at Binions, PH, Nugget, Aria along w WSOP dailies… But it would be cool to have a thread like that. Should I start it? Is there interest?

Thought I had already posted here but don't see it… This will be my 9th WSOP, but I usually only stay about a month – this will be my first time in for almost all of it (arriving the 28th and staying until I make the November 9, possibly with a few days away for a mental health break)
I hope that I won't be able to make the Meetup because I'll be obliterating the … umm … ahem … Seniors Event (the ONLY good thing about turning 50 three months ago), but if some actual old person stubbornly refuses to fold top pair to my three-barrel, I'll be there.
I wonder if anyone is already thinking/talking about this … it would be cool to have a TPE strategy meetup, either just among members or even better with a pro or two. I'm even chewing around the idea of getting some people together to play a single-table tournament as if it were a big MTT and to stop and talk about hands in between. It's something I've started doing with a group of students I'm coaching, and I find it very helpful – I could imagine doing it with just a group of members, or with members paying a pro to run it. Oops this is more of a digression than I intended – I'll think about this some more and post my ideas – Hey, maybe I should put it in “Ask the Pros”!
Looking forward to meeing some of you…

I'm playing the seniors event that day, so I hope I don't see you guys. But if I bust out, I'll be there!
I mean this in the nicest way when I say “we hope we don't see you!”
Good luck buddy!

Just got in a few hours ago. Gonna get some sleep then food shopping in the morning followed by some cash in the afternoon. Where should I expect to find the best 2/5 $1k max buyin?
Good luck Joe! I get in tomorrow night – I'll track you down to buy a piece if you're still selling. I'm *guessing* the Rio is the answer to best 2-5, but I'm not there, and have never been there this early in the series, so I could be wrong. I'll be curious to hear what more experienced cash grinders have to say…
I'll be landing in Vegas in about 18 hours, and I have two choices of my first day of poker – playing the $1K bracelet event or playing “day” 1A of the Venetian $500 at noon, with the intention of playing 1B (at 5PM) if not successful in 1A, so I'm potentially putting $1K in play in either case, with obviously a much greater potential win at WSOP, but less risk and greater chance of a $5k or $10k cash at Venetian, which would be a great way to start the series.
My main question is what people would guess about realative field streangth in each. My thought is that the best players will play the bracelet event, which will lower the strength of the Venetian field somewhat, but I also believe that a lot of weak players will gravitate toward an “affordable” bracelet event. Any thoughts?

$1k field will likely be softer. But variance much higher since the stacks get shorter quicker. Venetian structures are really good and your skill edge will probably have more oppty to come out there. That being said, if you can get a stack in the $1k, it could be a good old fashioned fish fry!

If it wasn't WSOP time, I'd say the Aria is a good bet for 2-5. They always seem to have a few tables going
