How do I play a video

New to the site. When I go to watch a video, I click the play button and nothing happens. Is downloading a video the only way to watch it?

Any one able to tell me why I cant watch videos? I have adobe flash player, clicking on play, the length of the video shows, but the video doesnt play. I also tried to download it and play it but that didnt work either.
