HEM 2 - the basics

Hi guys

I've just started using Hold em Manager 2 and have a few basic questions. I have watched RonFezBuddy's video and found it very helpful but there are still a few things i could do with clearing up.

I will be starting my HUD with the bare essentials: VPIP, PFR, AGG FACT, and 3BET. I will be colour coding them with the usual red, white and green and just wondered what ranges people use for these colours.

For example VPIP, i have set as 0-14 red (tight), 14-20 white (avg) and anything over 20 green (loose). Do these ranges look correct and what type of ranges would you use for PFR, AGG FACT. and 3BET.

I am also having some problems when loading tables, HEM loads the stats but seems to always place the stats under the wrong name/player? When showing the previous hole cards and flop it also always shows the wrong player as playing the previous hand, which could prove quite costly if I miss a hand a see a donk play but assign it to the wrong player.

One last thing, the large icon giving me the settings option and showing which HUD type i am using, is there any way of getting rid of that? Its really annoying when the table is already looking over crowded.

Sorry if these are basic questions, i have never much bothered with a HUD etc but feel its high time i started.

Thanks in advance – Kingoflimbs1

you have to go under hud options and preferred seating and select the proper seating for the site you are on. also i like your vpip numbers look good to me, the pfr #s should be just slightly under or matching..like 14/12 or 15/12, etc. as for the aggression factor i like the default options the HM2 has set up. i dont know if you can take the table settings menu off. but i would never do that. that thing is awesome..it tells you after a few orbits it tells you exactly what type of table your at, it has the average vpip/pfr up there. very helpful imo. also u can instantly replay any hand right there by hitting setting then replay..pretty cool function if you can only play merge. Good Luck

I also have a VIP colour coding for players over 30, as these are almost always fish. Most of the best LAG players will have a VIP between 20 and 25, so you don’t want to mix them up with the fish 🙂

oh yea without a doubt me too…most lag players tho have a raise like u said of 20-23 with the vpip of 25is or so. i myself run some tourneys that way with weak tight players..so its not too uncommon. but u can really tell the fish when there is that big seperation between the vpip and pfr…like 28/5…classic fish…after a few orbits they can be recognized. but i like that idea, i may do that myself…kingoflimbs the only thing i can think of is you have the hud tournament filters set up to default. try this. go to hud options the very bottom option is tourney filter. make sure its not on default..click reset values..they should all say 81+…if not that involves what a persons vpip/pfr is depending on the stack size..and it then doesnt show the stats for a certain blind amount when there is no history….which i hate, and think is stupid..u can easily understand that peoples ranges are tightening between15-30 or so and obv 15 or so and under they are starting to shove far wider..i dont need a hud to tell me what a guys vpip is with 10bbs. duh!!! check that, it could be your problem

Hey guys thanks again for the advice, i think the HUD is up and running fine now and i realised that HEM resets the hero stats each time you sit at a new table i suppose to give you an idea how you come across to opponents. Having the poker client and HEM set up to both sit me at the same seat has also stopped the stats displaying under the wrong name and also the hand reply function now shows the hole cards to the right player. Will be looking to add a couple more stats as soon as i get used to the table looking so clogged up!

I was also hoping to use HEM to try and identify leaks and analyse my game. Firstly just how I'm doing with each starting hand and from what position etc. Seem to be running pretty bad in B vs B situations recently so would love to have a look through and see if i can spot why. When i go to run reports it just seems to be bringing up reports from individual tourneys, is there a way i can analyse things based on all hands played? Maybe a graph showing wins/losses based on each starting hand etc?

I am looking for that too. I am having the same issue. If you found it, let me know or update this thread. If anyone else out there can find the issue, that would be great. Everytime I move to a table and I know I have several hundred hands on a player, it shows them back to 0. I have played a lot of hands against YuranPT and everytime I have him at my table, it shows as 0. Any help would be appreciated. Kind of tilting me to where it isn't worth the HUD being on.

One of the best things i ever did was start fodling my Sb nearly every single time. You should try it.

I did go to the HEM forums and yes, it was very responsive. The Hero stat is supposed to revert to 0 at a new table. Also going to your HUD settings and going to Filters and there is a check that you want to uncheck for session only play. That actually gives stats for just the session.
