Finished 7th. Pretty dissapointed though – felt good about finishing higher during play.  At 5000-1000, I 3bet shoved 9bbs fr the sb w A9o after co opened for 22,000 w 13 bbs behind. He had raise/ folded before with a similar stack and I thought I had plenty of fe. He called w 88. I don’t think my image was spewy or anything for him to call.

There were plenty of hands that I marked for review in the last hour of play that I may have played better, but I don’t know about his call – seems pretty bad to me. Plus there were  four of us that had between 5 bbs and 15 bbs, then three players with much bigger stacks. So with the pay jumps along with the stack dynamics – it seems most decent players would have folded 88 there with only hair more than 2 bbs invested.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Maybe he figured you had big overs and decided to race. Maybe instead of him shoving he was hoping to induce and was willing to call it off. Who knows??  I dont hate your shove its just one of those things. Grats on going deep.

thanks j. one good thing though,  I could get nothing going, literally for hours, and after being close to the bottom of the pack riding about 20 bbs it seemed like forever, I finally had a few good hands that gave me some chips to work with. Never give up, right.

I call with 88 there.  In his shoes he needs to call 7bb to win the ~12 that are in the pot at that point.  Almost 2-1, which makes worse hands correct in calling.  I also shove from your spot every time because I don’t think most people call correctly.  He only needs to win the hand between 35%-40% of the time for the call to be correct and there are only 5 hands that have him crushed(still 20%) so you have to factor that in.  Curious what the pros say.

Totally agree it was a good call if ICM wasn’t involved.  There were four stacks that had had like 7bbs – 16bbs and the pay jumps were coming up. I am looking at it from my point of view. If I was in his spot, maybe I call too. I def fold <66 though in his spot.

Totally forgot – I recently purchased SitnGoWizard. The hand should be in that tournament folder and I can see what it says, right?

jaygee1984 wins t207788

SitNGo Wizard says jaygee1984 should open 9.8%+(55+, AT+,A9s+) and basically call a shove ( I think) with 9% (66+, ATs+)

It also says that I should have folded w A9o and pushed with 5.6%( 88+, AQ+)

I have to learn to use the program better but I’m pretty sure his call was corect.

Sounds good, yeah it’s close, guess sng wiz is correct. Wish they had a mac version of sngwiz, it’s so helpful in analyzing hands.
