thanks again g0liath and cousteer
u should rail me all the time g0liath – seems like i run good when you're there
for anyone who wasnt watching
I'm gonna turn this into a short story for ya'll
So i was heads up with a 2:1 chip disadvantage against a guy who's biggest cash is $200 to date.
1st place is around 2.7k and 2nd place is like 2.1k
i feel like i had a handle on him esp post flop
My stack is about 12-13 BBs
i min raise the button w 9c8c or 9c7c one of those
flop is 3K3 w two clubs
i under bet the pot and he tank calls – right then i put him on a mid pair and maybe AQ but i def did not think he hit the board, ie he's floating me to see what i do on the turn
so the turn bricks an off suit T
he checks it to me and i jam the rest of my stack for 3/4 pot hoping he folds his pairs or aq or whatever, and feeling if he does call me i have outs w my F draw
he tanks and i feel good
he tanks some more and i breath a sigh of relief – coz hes gonna fold a lot here
i'm even looking at what the pot has in it compared to his chip stack and thinking how im gonna waste him over the next few hands and take this shit down!
Then he calls
with K3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
its a felony! he flopped a boat and super slow rolled me….
i barely had enough time to berate him b/c my table ninja closes finished tournies after 5 seconds
was kinda spewing but i'll look at the positive side of this adventure and move on knowing if i play him 100 times i'll beat him at least 70
cant wait for the next FT sweat
you played fantastic with 4 remaining onwards. You rode the 12bb stack like a pro. Poker is a game of firsts – fist big cash, first big win etc. I take it $2k is your biggest ever cash? if so enjoy this feeling….
My only recommendation would have been Heads up with 12 bb i wouldnt have hated limping the button and playing with him post flop rather than raise or folding, then having to cbet. He was passive preflop and liked to see flops cheap so i doubt he woulda exploited your limp by raising – and post flop you coulda just value bet the hell outta him or let go if you missed. I play a lot HU SnGs and do this with decent success against a passive opponents when i have 10 – 20bb stack.
again GG sir
hey great point g0liath
i didnt really think of limping the button and playing post flop
what i was thinking was that i knew he was passive and thought min raising was good hoping he would fold a lot
but as you point out i have to cbet to take it down
really need to work on my HU game though – now that i'm improving my game i feel like im going to be in this VERY important spot a lot more and should be ready as much as i can
i mean usually when im HU in STT's or 18 mans or 45 mans – its standard push fold spots, but outside of that i dont have that much experience
and i guess you could say that was my biggest cash
in 2009 on FTP i cashed for something like 1.2k and i super satillited once into an ANZPT package for $3.8k but there was only 750 cash to go with it
Im enjoying it very much – cant wait to get back to the tables though
