My first study group post, hopefully I can learn a ton from this.
Hand 3) AQu early MP wonder why you would limp there, is it ever good to first in limp?
Hand 8) A7u in CO and you over call, is this a hand you really want to play in a big pot? I say a big pot because it is almost certain the blinds will both enter if not raise. I think I would just toss it or raise to try and win the pot.
Hand 11) AAu UTG-1 and you limp? Your effective stack is about 20bb with many small stacks to act, why not just make a normal raise and hope one of them pushes. I think the limp early with AA or KK is just too obvious these days.
Hand 16) 67dd in the CO with no action and you fold? Seems like a great hand to attemp a steal and if you get called you have a good flopping hand.
Hand 17) K9dd in HJ with no action and now you raise, is this hand much better than the previous hand (#16) you folded?
Hand 36) AQu in BB 6 handed you have 25bb. UTG-1 raises 4+x with 55bb stack and it folds to you and you fold. You are getting 2/1 and the over raise just seems fishy to me, why not push? I assume you would not want to call the raise due to your stack size?
Thanks for the HH!
Hand 3) I prefer a min raise, it gives incentive for small stacks to jam with worse and leaves an easy fold to larger stack 3bets
Hand 8) I fold
Hand 11) same line as hand 3, minus the fold to larger 3bets.
Hand 16) folding or stealing
Hand 17) folding or stealing
Hand 36) Kinda scary I'd like a little more information on UTG-1, but 6 handed I like the shove I think.
Right here's my review. Hope you find it helpful. I think the main thing I got from this is that you should raise more often preflop rather limp – be the aggressor in each hand!
Hand 3 (AQo): Had there been lots of raising preflop? If so then I don't mind the limp, but I'd prefer to just shove it in here. You have just under 20BBs and may well get called by worse Aces and broadways.
Hand 5 (42s): You're not getting the right odds on the flop to call with your flush draw so I would just fold. You're getting 2:1 or 33.3% and you're about 18% to hit with one card to come. On the turn it's an easy call since you're now getting 8.1:1 or 11% and you'll hit again about 18% of the time.
Hand 7 (QJs): I would either raise or fold this spot, and lean towards folding since CO only has ~21BBs and the stacks behind are great for reshoving.
Hand 8 (A7o): Again I would probably lean towards folding for same reasons above.
Hand 11 (AA): With 30BBs I think I'm raising big hands like this preflop. I think you got incredibly lucky for the SB to shove w/ bottom pair and you risk the chance of the blinds hitting big. Charge them for the privilege. I like a raise 1000-1250 here.
Hand 14 (K5o): I think this is a shove. BB doesn't have particularly flattering stats on OPR and probably isn't calling correctly, which makes this is a +cEV shove.
Hand 16 (76s): I think you can open this from the CO to steal the blinds. You would have to call the SB and fold to any resistance from the Button or BB, but I still think this is a profitable spot to open.
Hand 38 (77): I love this shove. You have 19BBs and would hate raise/folding so shoving is clearly the best option.
Hand 48 (77): I think this is a shove against the Bu open. Your 3bet is far too small and lets the Bu see too many flops. You have 22BBs and whilst I would prefer to have <20BBs to make this move I think you are well ahead of his range for opening here. Get it in!
Hand 50 (ATs): Just shove – you have 13BBs!
Hand 70 (T6o): I think this is a shove. Is this the final table? If it is then you can shove much wider as BB is going to be calling much tighter hoping to move up in the money.
Hand 80 (A4s): With 22BBs I think I fold here. A4s is a speculative hand that you want to see multiway in the hope of doubling up. At this stage I don't think that's your plan.
Hand 85 (AJs): I think you just have to shove here. With 14BBs opening looks really strong and if you get called you're going to have to cbet where you miss 2 out of 3 times which just sucks, especially when flatter calls or raises.
Hand 86 (A6s): I think this is a shove or a fold as again it's going to suck if anyone flats preflop with only 14BBs behind.
Hand 90 (A9o): I really like the shove here – the BB is going to need a really REALLY strong hand to call with the two shorties.
Hand 95 (77): Raise preflop. On the turn I think I call here getting 4.2 to 1with 2nd pair and reevaluate on the river.
GG.
Here are the hands I thought were interesting…..Congarts on the win and overall well played.
Hand 3) AQ dont open limp you need to raise, have a standard opening raise for each level.
Hand 5) 24s I prefer a lead here on the flop we have no showdown value we need to start repping something on the flop, if we are willing to call a bet then we should be betting imo.
Hand 7) QJs I dont hate the limp IP I figured it would be a great spot for the BB to squeeze, this is close to being a call as our hand plays well and is rarely dominated.
Hand 8) A7o its a raise or fold…you call too much IP. I lean to folding this as its a trash hand.
Hand 11) AA hate limping in EP unless you know someone will raise from behind. The last thing you want to do is play AA multiway especially when the blinds wakes up on the flop and starts showing aggression.
Hand 13) AJ I like the 3bet against the button open.
Hand 16, 67s in the cutoff I would open that if the SB didnt have a shove stack.
Hand 21 TJo BvB…sb shoves easy call.
Hand 24 Q3s folded to you and you open I dont really like the hand but if you had a read you could get it through then I dont hate it.
Hand 36 AQo in the BB MP who is the big stacks makes a rather large open, would he do that with a monster? Probably not I may have shoved over him there…its close.
Hand 48) 77 I like how you played it.
Hand 50) ATs you open in EP for over 4x……dont like that, its way too big.
Hand 54) K9o on the button, I think you could have opened it.
Hand 80) A4s you flat utg limp in UTG +1 with 2 reshove stacks behind you, hate it.
Hand 84) Q9o on the button..I think you could have opened it.
Hand 95) 77 UTG 4 handed you limp in, dont like it..your giving away info when your not consistant with your bet sizing preflop. You should always be thinking raise>fold>limp in that order. The flop is 2 2 5 and its checked to you and you checked behind, why? Its the dream flop for 77 you must bet here.
Hand 100) 44 on button you limped after you raised the previous button. At this stage I min raise every button I open HU and it would be 80%+ of hands I would open on the button until villian made me play different.
Hand 102) 54o you 3x this one on the button….again bet sizing.
Hand 106 ) K2s you limp on the button…this is a raise. Missed value betting the flop we want to bet air/draws and monsters the same, bet here 100%.
