As ive cut down my work to 4 days a week and with university coming to a close I really want to invigorate my game by studying a tonne more and sharing ideas with like minded people.

Using the formula from the 4hr work week and learning theories of breaking elements down into specific meta issues and focusing entirely on those for the duration of a review/session I have come up with a few that I think are highly important:

– Opponent categorisation/range analysis

– Hand reading

– Stack size considerations/utility

– Stage of tournament play (early, late, bubble)

– Game formats (rebuy, cubed, turbo, hyper etc)

These can be changed and expanded depending on what other members of the group would like to analyse further.

Essentially I want each person or a few people (depending on how many we get keen for this) to donate one hand history each. We will focus on that one topic for the week/fortnight using videos here from TPE on the subject, articles or other information readily available. As a group we will go through a HH or sweat one person live (on sites that allow this) where that topic is specifically discussed in detail. A discussion of the information presented in the videos is also likely to take place and be expanded upon.

It is preferrable if you play micro to midstakes on any site.

If you are interested please reply, PM me here or add 'Kalculater' to skype.

I would certainly be keen to explore any opportunity to develop my game, which was obviously a big reason for joining TPE. Depending on the format and timezomes etc I am certainly keen to get involved; would welcome any opportunity to discuss poker hands / strategy in detail.

I am certainly playing micro / low stakes, predomiantely on Stars.

Will keep an eye out in the forum as to how all is progressing.

Marsh345 please add Kalculater on skype and we can sort out times etc.

Michael, please chat to me about this on skype. This is Alex from the home game so we can definitely sort some kind of format out. We talked about Hand reading the other night and this is one of the first things I really want to focus on.

No worries… I would be happy to start with hand reading and I certainly like your proposed format of a selected person donating a hand history and undertaking some prescribed review's prior to the session.

We will defnately discuss further, however a proposed format could be:

A)  Identification of key resources to review from TPE:  Vid's / Articles etc… This could then be posted as resources ideally to be reviewed prior to catch-up… For hand reading example could be Reviewing Broko's hand reading vid's – as this is the method we are keen to try and apply.

B)  Would obviously need to confirm method for hand history reviews etc… Clearly there is some software to facilitate this, would just need to be sure all have access can view hand history for discussion.

C)  I think it would be worthwhile nominating a person to somewhat drive discussion and the HH review etc – ensuring discussion remains on topic etc… This could easily be rotated around from session to session, i.e. the person nominated could identify the following topic for review at the next session.

lots of different ways it could come together… Obviously the other issue is timing etc… Will thnk about it further and can discuss over the next week or so…

Cheers…

What you have posted above is really excellent. I was thinking much the same things in terms to all having access to proposed hand history and allocating resources to use for particular topics. I additionally like what you have said about having one person facilitate the discussion each meetup session.

In terms of format for the group what do you think of having:

1. Self study – This would be study taken prior to the group meetup of the allocated resources for the topic.

2. Self review – Not completely necessary but it would help to review the proposed HH prior to group meeting so that it is facilitating solo education and thoughts. Notes and questions would arise which would be discussed in the group meeting.

3. Group meeting/Hh review – of the proposed topic and go through HH review via teamviewer discussing the issues that came up during self review and facilitating further insight and discussion in the HH review.

The person that hosts the HH or Group meeting would be in charge of taking notes for that session as per group decisions on certain factors/hands and providing the group members with this document. They would also be responsible for keeping the group on track for the proposed topic.

Software that could assist in the reviews includes SNGWiz (if applicable for shove/reshove spots), Universal Replayer, HM2 (HH can be uploaded and HUD used), Holdem resources (for nash), and flopzilla. Currently I am working through the usage of flopzilla better to understand the different factors that can be calculated/observed.

Let me know if you have any additional suggestions to the above.

So far I have only had yourself and Marsh interested however we dont need a huge group at all to get this underway. What time/s are good for yourself? I will get Marsh to hopefully reply in this topic as to whats good for him also. When I get home i will make the group on skype and add you both in.

Proposal sounds good… No doubt there will be some teething problems re: software review etc. I certainly have HM2 and Universal Replayer installed, however not flopzilla or SNGwiz (thats within HM2 right?)

With regards to timing, being in Australian Central Standard Time (ACST) in South Australia of an evening during the week, i.e. 8 to 9:30pm start off time would be fine – not during day due to work…. Or if was on a weekend I could go early in the am which in turn might cater for Marsh if he is in the UK – Sunday would be the best day for me, as on a Saturday I coordinate kids school Cricket Team…laugh

Am keen to focus on some key topics as you have discussed; there is so much info on TPE, I am finding myself trying I think to take to much in…  WIll also post this in the sype group you have made…
