So, I’ve been struggling with prioritising posting hands on this forum, despite the fact that my volume this year has been great so I’ve got no excuse as far as hands to choose from.

What I propose is that we setup an accountability bet. Each week I and whoever chooses to take me on in this must post up a hand in the forums for analysis. Potential arrangements can be made for weeks when something gets in the way that cannot be skipped (family, christmas etc) but aside from this for every week we don’t post a hand we have to donate $10 to a charity of the others choosing and show receipts.

If people would like to tweak this feel free to come back at me with ideas, but I’m looking for something low stakes enough that I won’t bankrupt myself (I’m newly married and a homeowner) but that still motivates to get off my ass and talk poker with you fine people!

Motivation has to come from within for it to be long lasting. That’s kind of a rude way to say that. I’m struggling to think of a better way to articulate it.

Look within to see why you’re hesitating to post. For some, the reason could be a fear of being judged. For others, it’s a prioritization issue. (It’s much more fun to play of course.)

I hope this is helpful. If Matt sees this I am sure he will think of a more encouraging response.

Thanks for the reply Joel.

The idea for me behind the prop bet was to help me, and anyone else with the same issue, with habit forming and accountability. Once you’ve done something for weeks in a row it’s much easier to continue without having to use precious willpower to force yourself each time you want to!

I do appreciate what you say about it needing to come from within, and the plan is to start doing this anyway, but I will leave the bet open for anyone who wants it.
