Hi tpe,

So il just get straight to the point I'm a backed player and have been for for like 11 months now all has been fine up until today i have come across a problem where iv been told i can no longer play ps or ftp (for the foreseeable) this is due to the stable not having funds to load up horses because of some gaming laws & banking laws in Russia i can still play across some euro sites but when i signed up i signed to be backed on ps / ftp this was a must for me and what i was solely looking for when searching for a backer.

My situation is ATM i am i MU, my original agreement was to play on ps /ftp so i would like ppls views and opinions on to where i stand and what i should be looking to do in such situation, These guys have been great to work with never any problems always on time with reloads and there to talk over hands when needed to but I'm unhappy with the situation .

Any help gratefully received

Im def not an expert in the backing arena (ill see if I can get a pro or two in here who have more experience than I) but I would say that if your agreement very specifically said you were being backed for FTP and Stars and they can no longer fund you there, you should be able to leave.

I have no experience actually backing others or running my own stable, but I've been playing for one of the best backers in the business for over 2 years now so I'll offer some input here. It's just my opinion and I'm not sure what the usual resolution would be, but here's my stance.

Essentially, the way I see it is that if your backer is unable to send you money because of a problem on his end, and you have fulfilled the terms of the backing agreement to the best of your ability, then you should have every right to leave the stake immediately, with the backer just eating your makeup until the point where he might be able to stake you again in the future under the original terms of the agreement.

It would probably be in both of your best interests to discuss the idea of playing on other sites without Stars or FTP, for the purposes of investigating all options, but you have every right to say no and look for other backing elsewhere. It's not like the guy can force you to play on euro sites until you get out of makeup. The legal situation might not be his fault, but it's also not yours either.

Basically what happened is equivalent to you signing a contract for a job with a company as a salesperson, and then their sales division gets shut down by head office. Then they say to you “well, you can't keep your old job because we can't afford to pay you any more. We're happy to offer you this other, different job, or you can look for the same job elsewhere.” They can't force you to do the new job if that's not what you were contracted to do. The fact that you're in makeup is irrelevant. Just means you were going through a rough patch of sales – doesn't give them the right to transfer you to HR without your say-so.

100% agree with KB here and i know for a fact that hes correct in his opinion, anytime a backer has to deviate from the original agreement it reopens all discussion and if the backer can not fulfill his contractual obligation to you then the agreement is nullfied and any red # you have incurred is his loss

Cheers for the quick responses and help guys much appreciated, i know what the poker community can be like in such situations it can become touchy somewhat and i wouldn't want my name getting dragged threw the dirt so to say and putting restrictions on my future backing opportunity's.

i like your point theginger45 it seems reasonable enough for me to keep grinding away at the MU until i maybe find another backer, but how well is this going to go down with my current backers regarding moving and i will most likely aim to find a backer threw 2+2 as i originally did and i know the mass majority of these guys know each other so i feel that I'm in a tricky spot to say the least.

WOW my head hurts im not much of a thread guy tbh just like reading them but was really stuck and confused regarding this. ps loved the 1st series ginger keep up the good work laugh
