In my personal opinion, between theginger45's short stack series, bigdog's and panda's series incorporating 45mans and 180mans, the ICM and math series available and access to third-party software that handle these common turbo spots with ease, another series specifically on these games would be a waste.
These games can be 'solved' if people consulted shove charts, undertook research with maths, Holdem resources and sng wiz and posted MTT topics with hard spots.
The only real added value to TPE I can see in doing a similar series to this is if you do a theory based series and break down each stage of the tournament, bubble play, final table play, ICM, how to study on your own and other +ROI spots such as light opening, light 3betting and the like. This would be for all MTT SNGs/SNGs in general and not just 45s/180s. This would be a great kickstarter for the newer players.

I might consider doing a video series of low-stakes 180-mans if people are interested. I can record some live footage and then add commentary and analysis on top of it.
Did this ever happen? I’d love to watch it, but don’t see it when filtering by Matthew’s videos.

“Hitthepanda has a good series which covers 180 / 45 man sngs. Whilst these are excellent videos I’m conscious that there a little old. Most of the concepts are still on point though. I find the biggest tool in these is push/fold, when to call a shove and when fold.”
I don’t know man… I watched some of those a while back. Look, I am not pretending to know more about shorter-stack Nash/ICM poker than HTP, but I really felt something was out with those vids.
Previously to joining TPE last year, when I decided to start getting more into MTT’s, I had been playing those 8/15 180 mans for 5 years straight, almost exclusively. Maybe the games had changed significantly since HTP’s time, but as I recall, specifically his bet sizing seemed way out for those games.
I actually really got alot more out of the couple of IGT vids I’ve seen thus far. Even then, I saw IGT in a 180 about 3 nights back, but other than that I haven’t even seen that dude around those games too much recently. 5 years ago, he was a full time reg there.
For sure, push/fold is what these games are all about (obv. some post flop too), but 1-30 bb poker is what these games teach. Not too sure how much you’ll get by watching a few vids with somebody else playing… you really need hundreds of hours of experience with a Nash chart to learn how to beat the 180 turbos imo.

Damn!
I was posting that last post and playing an $8 180 whilst also playing GTAV on my PS4. There was some total ******* stupid ass**** shouting some really immature stupid **** in GTAV online and it made me miss the Stars time bank alarm. I realised soon after, but when I checked my hands in the reruns, I’d missed 2 awesome spots. Now I got knocked out and I shouted at my daughter and now my wife is pissed at me also for shouting at my kid.
Anyway, who cares right? Its only money.
I entirely agree with Kalculater 100%. These games are about the most “solvable” as you’re going to get in poker. Which is why they are so popular with regs, especially FPP (I’m sorry…StarsCoin) grinders.
I do however feel as though these games, specifically the 180 mans, are a fantastic way to learn many of the most important aspects of MTT’s. I cannot recommend them enough as practise for real MTT’s.
I would imagine that a player who can beat these games over a large enough sample, should be at the very least not far off being a break-even MTT-er, and most likely a winning one. (Maybe I am the exception to the rule, however).

…really? This sounds like a pretty -EV approach to poker if you ask me…
So how about it, TPE pros – any of you still doing much volume in 180 mans and willing to post an updated series on how to approach 180 mans in 2016?

Yeah I hear you, although when I’m gaming I’ve usually got a game going on on the side.
For sure its not how I grind. Then I’m 100% about focus…no distractions whatsoever.
Also, as much as gaming whilst playing poker is probably -ev, the same is true for my gaming abilities…playing poker has wrecked my kill:death ratio in Call Of Duty and no doubt.
Regarding 180 vids in 2016 IGT has just done a series specifically on the format. The few I have seen have been very good.
