This was originally meant to be a PM to Marc, but I feel like RFB and KB should hear this.

I have a confession to make. When I first started watching videos here, I was big on the bigdog stuff. I ran across a vid that the two of you did together and I was so annoyed with how much you were “on his nuts”. I couldnt even watch the vid. A few weeks pass and I hear about you crying yourself to sleep which made me laugh, but at the same time it showed that you have been through the same kind of shit I have (cant imagine any of the legends admitting to something like that) and I started paying more attention to your vids. The stuff that used to annoy me actually entertains me now. More importantly, your enthuiasm for learning is contagious. You do a great job of asking the questions that I would ask. When you do solo vids, I love when you kick your own ass for mistakes because I do that too. It's funny that I hated how much you were on big dog's nuts and now I have written an entire paragraph where I am on your nuts. Here's the point…

I think you make the best vids on the site for guys like me who this MTT stuff is just starting to make sense to (I was a reg at $16 turbo SNGs on Stars for years). The fact that you answer questions in the Ask the Pros section earns you a lot of respect in my book. I hate I missed the days when the other pros were more active in the forums. You are kind of reviving the forums imo by taking a more hands on approach and truly learning as much as you are teaching. The fact that this stuff excites you makes it exciting to me. I was a middle school math teacher for 5 years and this is super important. No student wants to sit through a boring lecture that even the teacher doesn't really care about. We have a saying in education: “Students wont care how much you know until they know how much you care.”

If TPE's ultimate mission is teaching tournament strategy, then they did an awesome job hiring a passionate teacher who is getting better like yourself. You may not be the best in the world (yet), but this just means you are not bored with the subject matter and I think that is essential to TPE's mission.

You're doing some good work here man. Thank you.

Great post and I really couldnt agree more or have stated it any more perfectly! Almost had all of these exact thoughts running through my mind(kind of scary loxxii) while watching one of Marc's vids a few days ago.

Although I will say I understand Marc giving Casey alot of big ups and praise, because he makes it pretty clear how much BigDog has taught him and helped him out and how grateful he is for it.And I tremendously respect anyone who shows significant gratitiude to people who help them out and dont have to/need to but do it out of the kindness of their heart or to help a friend/family member etc.

So I give both Marc and Casey alot of props. cool

True. It wasn’t his gratitude. That part I appreciate. It was just some of the interaction. Like I didnt get the comedy before. Now that I am more in tune with the culture here, I understand it more. It was totally a misunderstanding on my end. He would say things like “of course you hit a set on the turn because you’re the bigdog, obv”. I would be like ugghh stfu man! Lol. I took it way too serious when he was just joking (obv, lol). Kind of like when I first heard Mark Herm saying chirp every 5 minutes. I get it now. If Marc wasnt such a cool dude, I would have written him off based on my own ignorance. I feel like such an asshole now that I think back to it. He has helped me a lot. I try to take bits and pieces from everybody. If I can have Marc’s enthusiasm, Casey's conviction, Jace's thoroughness, Benwa’s patience, and KB's consistency I would be a beast!
