I don't want this to sound like criticism, just constructive feedback. Just rewatching some of the TPE Theory vids with Daryl Jace and they're fantastic. I think the site would really benefit from more theory vids featuring the pros' thoughts on more general topics and ideas, rather than so many live sweats and HH reviews.
The problem with live sweats and HH reviews is that while they're usually really fun to watch (especially the dual sweat going on with KidCardiff and bigdog), they usually involve a ton of really standard hands where the pro folds T4o UTG on a 15bb stack etc, and even the situations that are more interesting usually involve some really specific player reads and dynamics, which make it hard for the viewer to really apply the hand to their own game. As much as I look forward to new TPE videos, I watch them more in the hope that there might be one or two really interesting hands that will teach me something, rather than in the expectation that I will be learning throughout the 45-60 minutes.
What I'd like to see is players taking specific topics (could be things like reacting to 3bets, playing the button, playing a chiplead stack, etc – anything really) and then digging hands out of their own HHs or the HHs of others that would illustrate these points, and perhaps using some EV calculations to show the ideas behind what they're explaining. It would maximise the usefulness of every video, would help to really explain some of the more abstract concepts, and I'm sure would generate a lot more discussion. What's more, a lot of other training sites (which I won't name, but they're pretty obvious) do offer a lot of videos like this already, despite not specialising in MTTs.
I recognise that this might require a lot more effort from the pros when making their videos, but I think it's going to be necessary for TPE to make the step up as the top training site out there, and it's the next natural step after the addition of so many quality pros recently. The videos don't have to stay 45 minutes in length either – if it's easier, just post a 15-minute video on one topic with one hand illustrating it. If that one hand is the only hand from that 45-minute period of live sweating that was eventful, it cuts out the chaff. For example, bigdog played a hand in the dual sweat recently where he flatted a 4bet with Q6s. Everyone raved about that hand, but I can't remember anything else from the video – I think a 15-minute analysis of that hand would have taught us more than that episode of the live sweat did overall.
Learning at TPE right now is the equivalent of being a SNG grinder – you get great volume and it's always profitable, but to get that ROI up you gotta focus, cut down on tables and really engage the brain. 🙂

great idea
live sweats are still important because they give you an insight into the table dynamics etc that are required to pull off a move like 4betting Q6o, but in general they are my least favourite type of video for the reasons you mentioned – there is a lot of standard spots.
in terms of discussing a few hands in a lot of depth, make sure you check out the podcasts as well, because they are full of that.
but yes, great idea – more theory!
Mehh. I don't really like the theory videos. They are kind of boring and how much theory can you really talk about when it is just preflop poker 95% of the time. I think it's way more important to get a feeling for the table dynamics and to see how hero changes gears or 3bets different ranges against different villains. It's nice to see “tighten your 3bet range pre” on a powerpoint slide but it's better to actually see the hands hero folds that I would have 3bet.
Maybe you guys can mix both video concepts. Do a HH review and if a spot comes up where the pro feels that he has a bit more to say, pull up 1 or 2 powerpoint slides, go deeper into the concept and continue the HH review 5 minutes later.
