Crop videos (no desktop background or black frame around)

Hello Guys,

So what I usually do is to download the wmvs and transfer them onto my iPad.

Now the iPad screen is not that big so when it’s multitabling (Hagbard Celine latest series) or it’s single table but the frame size is not proportional to the iPad screen because of the extra background to the left/right, it’s annoying that I waste the precious space on the screen with no content. It doesn’t matter on a monitor but it does on the iPad.

If it’s just blank (black) it’s not always a problem, sometimes the iPad media player software (OPlayer HD) can zoom at the content but not always. If there is anything else than just black in the background, like in some Wein replayer vids with his desktop background (flowers/plants) I can’t zoom.

In the future, could you crop the videos so that there is no background, just the content?

Instead of this:

This is better for the iPad:

Thanks!

We usually do crop extra space but I think that the example you gave above is a 1280×720 HD WMV which cannot be cropped any further in order because of the widescreen format.  The example you gave was actually probably cropped exactly the way you indicate for the 800×600 streaming browser and Iphone versions.

That said we could probably do more cropping than we are now, so I will make sure we do as much as we can.

Thanks for the feedback!

The issue is with the pros recording THEIR WHOLE SCREEN vs just the replayer / poker tables. If they just put a box around the select the table or replayer and then hit record this solves the issue. Also it makes the file size smaller which speeds up streaming and downloading.

Since one can’t change the recorded area while recording (obv) the whole thing needs to be planned in advance. If they record just the replayer window, and then they decide to stop at a certain hand and pull up PokerStove, or fire up more tables, then they need to remember to pull it over/rearrange the tables so that nothing falls outside the boundaries of the recorded area. I sometimes record my own sessions when I feel like I want to review my own play and not lose the timing tells and I often forget. : ))

Anyway the end result I would want is exactly what you said, that I would be happier without the desktop background, cropped around the replayer window or live tables only.

i know that RFB and i both crop whenever we can with the videos we render.

there is definitely some room for improvement in terms of how some of the vids are recorded, and thanks for the input.

Check out the Wein video that's coming out this upcoming week.  I think the cropping is much better.  Curious if it helps.
