Hey TPE,
We've been hard at work adding some new features to the site that will be released soon. The two biggest features will be a dashboard which appears after you login that shows you recent videos, posts, articles and even allows you to save some favorites for easy access.
The other feature (and one that I'd like to get some input from the community on) is MTT Training Courses. This feature will organize the content on our site by topic so it's a bit easier to wade through all of our content. As the library has grown it's gotten tougher to find materials so I think this is needed. Each course will include recommended videos, articles, podcasts and key forum posts.
What I'd like to hear from you guys is your thoughts on what topics we should cover, and a priority for introducing them. Here is the list I've been working on. Feel free to add your suggestions. We'll launch a few to start and then roll more out as time goes on.
When we pick the first few I'll also be asking for suggestions for top videos, posts and articles, but first let's find out what topics you guys want. Here's my attempt at a list.
- Microstakes
- Moving up stakes
- Transitioning from Cash
- Aggression
- Post-flop Play/Hand Reading
- Pre-Flop Play
- MTT Math
- Begginers Course
- Advanced MTT Play
- Late Stage Play
- Bet Sizing

sng/bankroll builders could be another one
i think the biggest priority would be the beginner and microstakes stuff, as these are the people that prolly need the most help and structure with watching videos, and there seems to be a lot of requests for it.
other than that i think its awesome
suggestion – this would prolly take a whole lot more work, but it would be amazing if there was some sort of “test” at the end of the course so that you could prove what you have learned
i.e explain this concept, what stack sizes should you be doing this with, what should you do in this situation etc etc, and relate it to concepts in the videos that you have just watched for that course. that way, you would feel like you have “graduated” the course and might provide some pretty decent structured learning opportunites.
thoughts?

thats not a bad idea – make it opt in and link it to opr, even if it just shows the relative rankings of everyone and nothing else
Not to get too off topic but i think a theory series on mental game would be a pretty good addition, also a theory vid on finding cold 4bet spots, inducing spots, balance, I also think a more advanced HUD vid is probably due (River and Marc did a good job of covering this in his merge hh review, but a separate vid from them going more indepth would be great).
Basically i love all the content on this site, but i personally get alot out of the theory vids and would love to see more of them.
regarding the forum, one thing i think would be super helpful would be a sticky containing the most insightful/well discussed/useful threads so they dont get buried. (stole this idea from other forums)
Also a minor point, the summaries benny is doing are really useful to keep up with the content, but they would prob be better off in a separate section like “whats new” or something so as not to bury the articles.

prolly a fair point here
Sorry for the delays on this. There are some good reasons and I'll give you guys the insight here.
When we started TPE, we used some basic web technologies that enabled us to get started fast, and see if there was a business. Everything functioned fine, but the membership software we chose, did not scale well. It was very time consuming and lots of manual work to run the site and manage memberships.
We sat down last year and planned our long term roadmap with 4 items.
- Upgrade membership software
- Recode every page for better performance and mobile-readiness
- Update video player (mobile-ready) and replace forum software
- Introduce courses and dashboard
Thanks for the reply RonFezBuddy. It’s great to hear these are still planned. I will outline some experiences with the 4 things you mentioned as to help you with these elements.

With the membership software, I take that as in terms of when gaining membership/user privilege allocations. For me I pay via PayPal, usually monthly and having it not connected to a credit card it usually takes 3-4 day for the bank to allocate payment. I was pleasantly surprised that TPE membership was automatically allocated. I think this asa a great benefit for new users as they get to reap the benefits and see the product instantly.
Recoding will generally help with user functionality and bandwidth which of course is handy in all aspects. I have found the site quite user friendly, fast and a pleasant experience to navigate.
I like to check the forums and watch videos on my phone when I am away from home. (Am actually on my phone right now). I have had no problems with this site on my phone except some vids not seeing stacks properly etc, yet that is a small screen phone issue and not so much a TPE issue. This is different for tablets obviously. With the forum however it is quite sub-par I find. Sometimes the quote and reply button doesn’t work, if you paste something from another word program it completely ruins the formatting aspect of your post and ends up posting sentences which are cutoff and formatted incorrectly. Also, whn changing posts or creating new posts the formatting is sometimes weird and I have had to write HTML tags and rearrange as needed. I could see how for someone inexperienced with forums and how they work this would be quite an annoyance.
I hope the forum is changed for the greater in future.
As to the courses I think these are a great idea. I hope that it’s set in a weekly module style like a university coure with notes, a video and worksheet to boot. This is something many sites in the market have tried and all ultimately failed in one aspect or another. considering the value of the content available here I can see how TPE could blow other sites apart with these groundbreaking foundations.
From both a business and consumer perspective I dig how you guys are looking to the distant future and am excited to take a backseat and see this site evolve.
Hope the outlined above provides you some info and experience from a third perspective.
Happy easter from Aus everybody.
Will be watching this space in anticipation
Alex
Thanks for the great feedback!
The first iteration of courses will primarily be to organize the content better by subject. “Getting started at TPE, “Positional play”, “Moving up stakes”, “Final Table Play”, ETC (these are just some examples – nothing set in stone). We will combine videos, with articles and insightful forum posts. As as we get closer I will poll the membership to see what kind of organization makes sense.
The greatest amount of feedback we have gotten is that there is so much content, people don't know where to begin or where to go next. This should alleviate that.
Once we get that in place we will look to add additional elements like the worksheets, etc as have been suggested. All the worksheet stuff is quite a bit of a change and I don't want to delay better organization for it. But I think it's a great idea and we have started planning it.
Once again, thanks for the feedback. We appreciate the honestly and the guidance from everyone.

Hey,
I love this workshop idea, I can't really speak for others but my biggest speed bump per say with my poker is I can't get out of this bankroll building stage, im just stuck at micro sngs, while taking shots in the big and hot micro tournys on stars. I have made some deep runs, but coming 20th in the Hot 2.20 still only nets you $22 or so..
Anyways, I have watched the series on here for 180 man and big dogs 45 mans, probably could re watch them, but one thing I kept thinking about was that alot of the bankroll builder videos on here are a few years old now, and if you look at discussions on 2+2 it seems as though the micro sng mtts are alot tougher than they used to be. Also as much as I love watching bigdog shipping the million, most of the plays he makes don't apply to turbo sng's where everyone has under 15 bigs after the first few blind levels.
Im sure there are alot of members similar to me, 22 year old student just trying to get better and build a roll. I think it would be pretty cool if one of the pros offered to start with a $100-$200 roll, and record a bunch of sessions where they try different game types, and show us how they would adjust to micro stake players, the short sng stacks, and just show us how they beat micros etc..

I watched the following videos so far
big dog first vidoe where he does a lot of shoving, (where one criticisim is that every hand differed from kill everyone)
the three bet shove
becoming a better poker
Short stack boot camp
Expert hand analysis ,
And first hand of wein Sunday final table million from 2010 because it had accumulation which is what I was focused on right now.
And now I am stumped , what best to watch next.
Other sites have course outlines..
The defunct stoxpoker had just before it went down a 30 day course for cash and sit and goes..
Deuces cracked has a guide line though it is a bit outdated right now in their forum.
Outstanding poker has a video list for their six max..
Deep stacks university before it went down (I think it went down) had modules that were level based aka level one for basics like pot odds, to level 4.
So when it is finally completed it should go up there in the main site as a new section under videos..
But in the meantime a tentative work in progress could be made and post in the forum eh ?.
I think the problem is everyone is at different levels , some are totally new to poker, some are coming from cash,, others are long time sufffering losers like myself.
Your attempt at a list was a good first step..
What I propose is this take about 4 common mtt audience (probably one or two I missed)
And ask your fellow pros what kind of outline should be there .. Once you get all the recommendations (doesn’t have to be the current videos,, but ideal so perhaps down the line you can make more)..
Once it is done,, oragnize it ,, present it to the membership as a survey perhaps.
Oh for videos concepts,, offer about 3 to 5 members who are winning players a free membership for one month for them to go through all the videos they havent’ watched yet/or think they will make a good video according to your list that was reached at the end of the survey.
And rework the video list to add to it,, every year.
Besides that,, the lesson guide should also include why hh,, might be better then replayers in some pros views, or replayer vs. live sweats.
Finally a video on how to watch the videos is missing,
Myself after years of watching videos I realized I wasn’t’ learning,, what was wrong with me.
So I started taking notes,, oragnized them into concepts,, and things to try..
And when I joined here, again,, I sat and watched these videos with notebook and pen and made my mind a blank as best as I could.
