USA players on Lock Poker

Hi TPE,

I was wondering why USA players can play on Lock Poker or the Merge Network but not on other sites after Black Friday. Are Lock doing something different that allows them to offer online poker to USA players or just taking a gamble with the DOJ? I am travelling to the USA in a couple of months and would still like to play online poker but I would like to find out the answer to this question before hand.

Thanks

I beleive a lot of players that you see that are playing in the US on sites like Merge, Cake, Bovada and others are putting small deposits. Many players, including myself are not depositing a huge roll in it. Most of us are depositing a little and then just building that roll up and then withdrawing. The problem is the withdrawal. It doesn't seem to appear to be too difficult to deposit on these sites (depending on where you live in US). It is the problem with withdrawal. It is taking a long time to withdraw conventionally and you have to give your first born child to get the money and there has been some delays in the process of it. You just have to factor the volitile environment. Some have even used Player to Player transfers from sites such as 2+2 or the other one that I won't mention since Diego is on this thread (just kidding). This is volitile too.

I will say, until you start seeing online poker regulated which I think there have been some good steps in the right direction, it will be volitile. I would suggest if you come to the states, go to the cage at a casino and get your chips cashed and you are good. If you are online, be aware. You can play in the US but you never know what is going to happen from one day to the next. It could be your site that gets pounded by DOJ.

Lex and RFB are exactly right, its a calulated risk right now because you don’t know what the USSA Ministry of Injustice will do next.

Currently +EV but could turn -EV at any moment! surprised

See you on Lock. I also play on Bovada. There is a tournament series going on Lock and on Bovada. In April, there is also True Poker/American Cards Room that is doing some tournaments and they had been doing some Double Guarantee. Merge a.k.a. Lock has the largest player base for MTT. Especially this month. I am anxious to see what the player base will look like next month.

I am not sure, but I cashed out via check.  It took about 3 weeks to get, but I did receive it yesterday.

hey guys.  bumping this thread.  .I am in the US and realize I am taking a gamble if I fund to a US facing site.  I also realize i need to practice the concepts I will be learning here.  I currnetly play 2 to 3 times a week at local card rooms in 100-200$ buy in tournies.  these hvae really fast structures so they turn into shove fests rather quick.  About once a month I get to play a better structured event.

My question about Lock.  I understand the risks that they DOJ might make the money go poof.  But I also realize that i need the “reps” and am willing to sacrifice a small “investment”.  Ultimately my goal is for my game to be on point for larger tournies such as WSOP which i first played in last year and fell in love.  though I did OK, i realize my game needs lots of work to get up to speed on current poker.

playing 3 times a week in shove fests won't be enough reps. . so, under standing the risks, how hard is it for an american player to fund his account?  and what are the best methods?  Credit card, western union.  .what are peoples experiences?  thanks in advance!

The structures in  most of those tournies on Lock are a bit fast for me. ACR has better stucutures, but Lock has much larger guarantees (except for the present time, while the ACR Online Super series is going on).

I was able to get Lock funded through Western Union.  And until you mentioned it I had never heard of ACR.  I presume, from the name, america's card room, that they take US action?  I may try that too since lock doesn't have enough tournies at most times to multi-table.  Thanks for point out ACR

8 months? Are you serious or is this hyperbole? Possibly you meant 8 weeks?

I was 100% going to put some money on Lock tomorrow until I read this. I currently play on Carbon and I complain about the 2 month wait time here.

Screw that.

I've been playing on Lock and it's mostly ok. Went on a heater in November and again in Feb and was playing pretty well.

But I put in a withdrawal request using the WU option at the end of Feb and keep getting told it is taking longer than expected. It's pretty frustrating because it's not a big withdrawal. They finally told me they are having troubles because of the US Laws. Their customer service response is very quick and polite but if I can't make a withdrawal in a timely manner then really I'm just paying for reps.

lock is broke its a matter of facts and everything else they are telling is outright BS.

they were actually BSing right from the start. or look back at the girah scandal for example

would be interesting to hear what bigdog and marc say to all of this.

Just today moorman1 tweeted that he is not going to continue as a lock pro

and if you want to get some more info:

cheers

USA player here with some money still on Lock.

Anyone here in a similar situation?  It's just $950 but for me that would be nice to get back. It's in the state of verified WU, requested on 5/1/13.  Changed addresses twice since then, so I hope that won't be a problem on WU's end.

I'm actually surprised there isn't more recent forum activity on the subject .. did everyone just sell their funds or something?

What's the scoop as far as you guys are concerned?

I would go here:

…..tcount=434

(this thread in general but that one post is a good starting point if you haven't looked at it)

Not that everything with Lock wasn't convoluted to begin with, but having just fled the Revolution network to start its own/get away from the mess it created, there are a couple reports of some pending cashouts that have gone through so you should stay up to date on the news as reported in that thread.
