I really want to go pro. I've been playing for a while now, and I love doing what I do. My results haven't been too hot, but with work, I can improve this. I'm only 18 years old, and live with my mom in The Netherlands. She is completely anti-poker, believes it's gambling, and keeps telling me I won't be able to rent a house without a consistant money income. I've never been interested in anything in my life, I dropped out of highschool, and I have no qualifications yet. I am in college, but I am very demotivated to continue going, as I know I have found my calling in life, which is poker.

Can some other poker pros tell me how they support a life style, pay rent every month, or even how they support shelter?

Thanks

If this is what you end up deciding to do, then I wish you well dude. I would caution you to think through this very carefully before you comit however. Ideally you will want to have a decent amount of money already saved up so that you have a security net so that you can still be financially stable throughout the inevitable downswings. If you are dependant on needing to win money every week then you will struggle both financially and emotionally. This can be especially dangerous to the mental health of someone who is already un-motivated.

As for being able to support a lifestyle. That will just come naturally with a sufficient win rate combined with good bank roll management. These 2 things are possibly the 2 most important factors if you want to make poker your sole source of income.

You obviously have a passion for this great game, and it sounds to me like you’ve already made your mind up that your going to take a shot at this. But this is a hard way to make an easy living, so i guess just make sure you know what you’re getting in to.

Good luck man.
