I’ve done some thinking and have decided to approach this with a more nitty approach than most.

I’m gonna pad my roll to $450 and then play mostly 45 man but anything that doesn’t cost more than 1/300th of my bankroll.

My roll is to me now irreplaceable so I’m gonna build it once and do it right even if my hourly sucks for a bit.

My goals are

Continue watching videos and learning as a player

Grind my roll to between $10,000-$12,000 by June 2014.

Play at least 1000 games a month every month starting January and play whenever I can before that.

Be super nitty so there is no chance of losing my roll.

Hi Phoebus,

Whilst I really think BR challenges are great for motivation and accountability in playing good volume I wanted to point a few things out to you so you dont overindulge in fantasy as to current ROI capabilities.

Lets do some quick math on your goal:

– You want to build a roll to at least $10000. Therefore you need (10000 – 450) = $9550 profit.

– Lets say you play 1k games a month. This is 6k games from January to June.

– Your avg. profit per game to reach this would need to be $1.59 ($9550 / 6000)

– This is >100% ROI (106% in fact)

With your $450 roll and using your BRM considerations you would be starting at the $1.50 45 mans and this sort of ROI is not attainable even at these games over the long run.

Didnt mean to burst your bubble of having high aspirations, just wanted to point out the realistic expectations.

For great goal setting it is handy to use the S.M.A.R.T goal setting formula. This can be found with an easy google search.

I wish you the best

Well I’m not gonna stay at the $1.50 ill move up to the 3.50s and move into 180s as well.

I can always put in more volume if need be.

But I am gonna practice the best bankroll management because I’m never reloading again.

I didnt take that into consideration as I should have. I personally grind the 45/90/180s on PS for BR building and use the profits to dabble in MTTs on other sites where the variance is generally lower due to player fields size and softer in general. Grinding these games is a bit of a hard slog as I only generally play 3-4 sessions a week due to working full time and university full time as well. It can be disconcerting when seeing your BR hover/slowly build over the actual time spent playing. If you've got the time and patience then it can certainly be good for the soul.

You can generally make some 'good' money when you are playing the 7+ 45mans, 3R and 8+ 180s. My goal was to initially use those profits for low to midstakes mtts in search of that bink to cut down the volume in such SNGs and grind the mtts fulltime.

Keep this thread updated, i'd like to follow along in your journey.

Good luck

Cool, sounds good.

I shall keep a log, and I didn't know the $7 45man were soft was just gonna wait till I get $700 or so and then put tons of volume in on the $2.50 180 mans

Started today with $500.75

Played 18 $2.50 180 man

And 2 $2 mtts large fields.

Finished 51st out of 4337 people and made a couple final tables in the 180s.

Ending bankroll $489.67.

Notes: Playing that many tables is tiring mentally I had 13-14 going at once at one point and played them fine but I am not sure how I am gonna get it so I can play 50-100 a day. Just have to work up to it I guess.

Gl sir, mix up some 4,50$ 180's they are extremely soft and good for bankroll building 🙂

Oh didnt even see this post…good idea Ill start mixing those in as well.

Ran deep in a bunch today, final table bubbled one with $690 up top. Came 80th out of 6000 people in a $1.35 turbo knockout, went deep in another large field one with 2k up top. Just missing em, just gotta keep working hard and improving my game.
