Pretty direct, huh. I have been off and on for going on 4 years. I haven't really scored any real big tourneys and have only ran deep and maybe 4 games in my life in the 4 years. I am really a player that loves poker. This run, I want to be honest with this community but most of all, to ME. I have a lot to really learn. There are a couple of goals that I have.

Goal #1- Only play when I feel to play. Not play when I know I shouldn't play. I typically play a session because I feel like I have to.

Goal #2- Be realistic… I have a wonderful and supportive wife and 3 schoolage kids. I don't have time so I need to maximize the sessions that I do play. I really want to play well and free time, learning to play as well.

Goal #3- quit chasing and start profit from poker. I typically had been chasing the loses of poker with gains in blackjack and other forms of gambling and I really want to work at being ok to have a losing session and just factor the varience. This means to have a good solid bankroll. I am the worst at this. Busto a lot of times. I want to really work hard at just being in games I am supposed to be in and not games I don't belong in. Live poker is more on the bankroll and LOVE live poker but play in tourneys that I am not rolled for.

Goal #4- Be realistic in my expectations. I am not looking to be a poker pro. I am looking to be profitable. I am looking at being better at the game.

These goals are probably typical for everyone that starts a subscription. I just want to be a little bit accountable. I would love for a follow and some sweats or opportunity to sweat others on games. Follow me on skype at weee3eee.

Bovada is pretty good with having them block casino from your gaming. Which reminds me. doing it now. +EV decisions is where I start. smile

NO HUD
Last night was a very good run for me. I played a few games and almost final tabled a tourney. Great morale booster. I am doing something a bit different with this run. I am playing with no HUD. I am playing less tables and really less games. My grind is mostly on this site watching videos and reading and listening to any podcast I can. I am mainly sticking with MTTs.

Not having a HUD last night I believe allowed the decision making more raw based on tendencies and betting patterns and allowed me to play less on auto pilot and allow good decisions on each street and each play. I have played with a HUD for years since HEM1 so this is much different for me in the game. I never realized for me how distracting a HUD can be until I went through it without one. I suck at Math so I mainly had a HUD to keep track of how many blinds I have. Lol. I know I am a nit so I don’t need to be reminded and it didn’t matter if the guy to my left was a 45/10 to the left of me, I will still fold K7o on the button.

I played my game with thought on putting the others on ranges and looking at stack sizes and playing more of improvements of my hand vs the opponents range. Many noobs will only look at their holdings and not pay much attention to the villains play back and what they would have with their stack sizes and the improvement of the board. I honestly play that way for years and I am working on this leak (which to me is a major).

I believe I get myself in sticky spots so many times is due to me not belonging in the pot to begin with. I don’t pay much attention on the future streets. I hope to get myself more into the point of good bubble plays and quit min cashing. I believe either I am playing too passive and shut down on the bubble or I may be playing too aggressive and end up flat bubbling. Sometimes I would rather just bubble than get the min cash. This is where ICM comes in. If I could figure out how many blinds I have, I am doing good. I guess I should have listened to my dad when he said, I promise you algebra will be used in your life. Well x=crap over piss.

Happy grinding

I had a good session yesterday with a couple of min cashes but a final table on Bovada. I took spots I normally wouldn’t take but paying attention and playing against ranges allowed for a better run.

I feel like I still have work t do trying to figure out why I get to around 5bb to 10bb when blinds are 500/1000bb antes. I tend to nit it up and clam at that stage so typically just am racing.

'I SUCK'

No, you don't. You're just trying to overcome some challenges and accomplish your goals. Telling yourself (and everyone else, since it's in the thread title) that you suck is not necessary, and it could very easily hurt you.

You determine the reality within which you operate while trying to achieve these goals. If you tell yourself 'I SUCK', that's a blanket statement that encompasses everything poker-related – it achieves the twin negatives of failing to give yourself credit for the things you do know/things you are good at, and reducing your weaknesses to an overly-simplistic statement that doesn't give you anything useful to work with in acknowledging where your weaknesses actually lie.

I think you should go a little easier on yourself over the course of this challenge. Give yourself some credit, and make a list of your strengths and weaknesses, areas to improve and areas already improved, etc. Be specific. You've outlined a lot of your weaknesses already ITT – for each one, figure out a plan for how to address it.

You don't suck. Nobody does. It's a generic insult people use when they can't think of what else to say. We're poker players, we don't talk about things generically – we analyse, we probe deeper, and we think of the specifics. Try to keep doing that as you move forward, and I think you'll see better progress.

Sorry for the random interruption, I just saw the thread title and needed to comment on it. I wish you the best of luck with everything! GL in achieving your goals.
