Hey guys. I tend to go up and down with tilt and bankroll management. I also have a problem with sticking to games and formats which suit me. As I get bored and tempted to play higher buyins.
After watching the recent big dog video series on 180 mans I wonder if anyone fancies joining me in playing 100 180 mans $2.50 turbos to try and build a bankroll.
I will be perfectly honest. I have $103.91 in my stars account at the minute. I no its not enough buy ins for this level. But il reload if I crash during this challenge.
I plan on playing 100 of these over the next 2 weeks. Let me know if any other micro player wants to join me. Thought we could post any interesting hands on the forum to try and keep motivation up.
cheers
Tom

As soon as I am back from my vacation in the US, I'll join the challange. Not to create a bankroll, but to get some constant income from a lower variance format and to get some SNG experience. Will play the $8.00 180 mans.

Unfortunatelly this won't be before october, hope you'll still be there.

GL to you!

hey guys thought this was an interesting spot with 23 folk left in a 180 man. Let me no if you would have called or folded here. Villian was 30 27 on the hud but that was just over 30 hands. So make of that what you will.

He has a big stack, loose stats from the small sample we have on him and should be shoving really wide here. We are ITM and need to chip up to make a run into the top 3. I think this is a fine, standard call but it would just about be the bottom of my range.

Started the challange today, played 11 $8.00 180turbos so far for a ROI of -92% with one amazing min-cash. I played a little rusty first and when it mattered my QQ didn't hold vs KQ, AA lost to 44 etc. With this small sample I am confident results will change soon enough.

If I manage to play 25+ this session I'll post results.

And I agree with Kalculater, this is a snap call for me, given stack sizes, I don't care about villains image. With his stats: even better.

Hey guys a few days in and ive managed 20 of these. Best finish was a 4th place for a tad over 30 bucks. I had a 21st for a min cash as well. So all in all im down to 86.93  . So being down 16 bucks is no major drama.

On a side note i need to to stay out of tpe chat when playing 4-6 of these at 1 time. As im only playing on a laptop, there are just to many misclicks and timeouts when im in the chatroom.

Hope you guys are good. I heard mike is on the up in the challenge which is good to hear 🙂

Its all cool mate, I dont have to log in to the tpe chat when im playing. Its my fault.

Challenge update: 30 games played . Bankroll $83.46 . So more bankroll destroying than building . But im sticking with it.

In fairness i took some bad beats in the last 10 i played and lost some big flips also. Which is the nature of turbos i guess.

Im going to post some hands below. if anyone wants to comment on any of them feel free. Hope all you guys are doing better than me. I will probably post again after the weekend grind.

Morning everyone. Good news 🙂 i binked one of these last night for the 123.31 top prize . Bad news is looking through my HUD im sure its missed some of my tourneys. Because going through my numbers all morning and they dont add up to my bankroll.

Im currently on 185.66 , im sure ive played 30 games as i have been recording results on a word document. The hud claims ive played 28 and my current balance should work out at 181.41. as its only sligtly off im not to worried.

So im moving forward on the basis of 30 games played in 6 days. With a current bankroll of 185.66 from the 30/8/14.

Not sure how to put photos on to here so if you guys want graphs or photos i may need some help.

You can follow me on twitter by the way @ShowBizTom30

Heyas all,

Sorry for the confusion Tom, the one I won was a sat to Sunday Million and not part of this challenge.
This isn’t going great so far, but I’m sure I will show profit, even if small one when this challenge is over 😛

I've played about 20ish of these $2.50 180 mans so far and only managed about 3 or 4 min cashes. Lots of bad beats, the variance is horrendous in these. Anyone have any idea what a realistic ITM% should be for a reg 180 player?

Not sure about the cashing % in these.

Good results at $2.50-8s is 15-25% ROI whereas the really good regs can get up to about 30%. Due to the short stacks and push/fold nature of these games ROI is quite capped.

58 games played , current br 149.54 took a pokerstars bad beat hammering today. But this challenge really helped me not go on tilt and play zoom or heads up cash. Money saved actually feels almost as good as money won smile

Ok, so I was also curious about the cashing and ROI etc in those. I did pull out my stats and fiddled around with filters and noticed my sample size was too small. So I did put in all my SnG 46-180man. That means some random < 180mans 2.5 180man, 3.5+r 180 mans and some 8 180 mans and got a bigger sample size to work with.

(can’t get this to line up nice :/ )
PrizesWon Net Profit ROI Average Buy-In Average Field Size R/A ITM/Played ITM

$26,788 $9,802 58,00% $3.66 167 19,00% 567/4642 12%

This is not a brag or anything, I was just curious about numbers. And I guess all this tells me I should stick to sit n go really.

As of the challenge. I did end up with a small profit over 100 games played, +$16. But as I said, I think 100 games is a bit small size to work with as variance and FT bad beats makes a huge variance on end profit.

Nice one mike. Good to know your a winner accross all mtt sit and goes. They are just a real grind though. And its tough not having the freedom to make moves later on in them. I have fell behind on the challenge . Family and baby stuff over the past few nights. I will try and wrap it up soon. Im hoping not playing on Stars for a few days that they will give me some run good when i log back on.

Hey Guys,

So I have have been playing these on off for a while, although I missed the start of the challenge. I have made a few final tables over the last 2 days, although didn’t make the top 3 where the money is. I tend to enjoy the $1 180 man hypers. They only last 30-40 mins and there’s so many

Cont – players not calling correctly etc. I’m not sure if you guys have finished your runs but would be up for the next challenge.

On a separate note I seem to be doing well on the 18-45 man sngs with ($1.50 – $3.50) with 2 first place and 1 second place this morning. So I’ll probably keep trying these less variance and pretty soft.

Anyways good luck and run good
