Why we all play tourneys? Why not cash games?

Guys just wanna ask why everyone who is here mostly choose to play tourneys? Why did u made such decision? If former cash players  are here would really love them to answer why they switched to this long games. Also pretty much interested where u can earn more in average cash or Ts. Where is variance bigger? Also about regular players where more of them?

As for me I do play most of the time tourneys, but i’m looking forward to play some more cash in order to improve my postflop skills. Not sure if I could play cash for living, I still prefer to play tourneys.

I haven’t played many cash games just because I am still building my bankroll. I like tournaments and Sit n Go’s because once you are out, your out and you can use this idea against other players(aggressive bubble play). Unlike, in a cash game where someone can just buy back in. Plus ROI is greater in tournaments if you know what you are doing.  I enjoy the fact that strategy and dynamics differ between them so greatly.

I used to play up to and including 5/10 NL on Bodog from 2004-2007 and did quite well.

But that was then and this is now. The cash games have gotten exponentially harder and there are less fish and more regs. And honestly I simply do not have the amount of study time it would take to remain equally successful now.

Plus that money is gone now between a car and furnishing an apartment, etc. I’d rather not just take $10,000 out of my bank right now and create a $100 NL roll that way.

Sites like PlayersOnlyPoker still have soft cash games so once I stop using my gf’s Macbook and get a PC set up I’ll probably spread my cash across a couple smaller sites and bumhunt 1/2 and 2/4 games here and there. Swapping light 3 and 4 bets with regs just is not worth the time, IMO.

Tilt factor for me. I cant lose but so much in a tourney. Playing cash I have auto reload on and on a bad night can get beatdown much more than I would like.  Plus Im bad about jumping up and playing stakes beyond my roll thats why I am rebuilding once again and am trying to get better at playing MTT and SnGs. I swore off cash games because I would just get too upset.

because cash takes hard work and talent, and were all to dam lazy 😛

any fool can luckbox a MTT…..

seriously i think this is a part of the reason, i.e. the monster prize at the end. For me though there has always been a huge allure of shoving in 1m+ chips (even if there not = $$).

The other one for me when i started is i liked the idea of being the ‘winner’, pretty sure alot of people like this and its pretty hard to define this.

The competition is getting harder and harder on CG, especially over certain limits.

You can not find fishes easily over 200 NL.

In the same time there are still many of them on MTT.

I personally get bored by the constant grind of cash.  I like the adrenaline rush of shallow stacked, high pressure decisions that you get in late game MTTs.
