Howdy. I am looking for ways to get more production out of my time. In order to get the most out of your time is it necessary to schedule all aspects of your day to day life including “free time”?

A little background: I am a fairly prompt person. Classes, work, appointments, and other scheduled activities I have no problem making. I just feel like there are hours in between these events when I am not maximizing my productive output. I can be lazy at times but not overly so. I stay busy the vast majority of the time which makes me feel as if prioritization of my free time may be an issue for me.

I was hoping some of you may have some tips and advice, (maybe even books or other literature), on ways you maximize your time.

I plan out my week in advance by scheduling time for academia, poker, work, etc and keep it updated on iPhone, outlook. It helps keep me on track. I also go to a neutral location when studying or reviewing hand histories. I usually go to our large library, it keeps me focused on my task. If I am at home I will put in a movie, start a tourney or something that draws me away from my task(s).

Seems like 'Getting things done' by David Allen is the way to go. If you have the discipline to follow through with his system, you'll be amazingly productive.

It caused quite a stir on the internet when it first came out, and it has now become required reading in a lot of schools and businesses. The application of GTD can feel a bit counterintuitve and complicated at first, but once you understand how it works it all becomes really simple.
