Screen Sharing!! Is this illegal/cheating?

Might be a silly question but just wondering if anyone knows if pokersites consider screen sharing illegal/cheating?

I've had a coaching session where I shared my screen while I was playing, and obviously it's probably how most coaching is done. Is this considered illegal or cheating by pokersites?

Is there anyway pokersite clients can tell if you are sharing your screen?

i think it is fine as long as your coach does not tell you what to do during action.  but after the hand they can say “you should have done this or that”.  As long as you are playing your hand, my understanding is you are all good.

well i'm sure we've all had times when we are grinding with our friends and up comes a tough spot and we say out loud 'ohhhhh sick spot' and the guys kind of gather around the screen and watch??

i know me and emufart and our other regular grinders have anyway!

imo it's pretty much what kb says – as long as someone else doesnt play for you it's ok

and tbh, in-game, you make your own decisions b/c no-one else really has the better idea about image and game-flow anyways

I think its all about intent also. Big difference between taking advantage of something to try and cheat people and using technology to try and better yourself.

I agree with KB and K9 on this, it is all about intent. If you have someone telling you what to do all the time during play or someone pays you to be an avatar for them online I consider that cheating, but if it is a friend/coach who does to interfere with your actions and is watching-I do not see how that could be illegal.

Thank you for the comments, and I agree with what has been said. Most have said that it depends on the intent, and again agree. When i was being coached my intent was to learn and not cheat other players, but I think we've missed the issue of my question.

Does anyone know what position the pokersites take on screen sharing? Do they consider it cheating or illegal?

Can their clients determine if you are sharing your screen?

I don't see screen sharing mentioned specifically in the pokerstars terms of service:  …../room/tos/

They do mention collusion as being prohibited, so I believe that is consistent with the positions stated above – you can view but you can't collaborate.
