Posting this on my phone so not able to post the link.  Read this on P5s website.  This is very discouraging news for the online poker community.  I dont live in WA myself but just very worried other states may follow suit.  Really sorry to the people who live in Washington and play online for a living.

I heard about the decision out there and was a little surprised that the Washington Supreme Court took that line with respect to the internet and interstate commerce. I would expect to see an appeal pretty quickly and if history holds I would expect a federal appeals court to overturn their assertion that internet activity can be regulated by the state, but it will make things dicey for sure in the short term.

I don't think there's much of a chance of this being overturned.  The governor is very much in favor this ruling and it's backed by a powerful casino lobby.

I agree that the state of Washington doesn't want this overturned, but I think that the next level of appeal (Federal Circuit Court) is more than likely going to stick with prior case history regarding regulation of internet commerce activities as sole property of the Federal Government. It has been a contentious issue in the past, specifically related to state sales tax and repeatedly the Federal Courts have aligned this with the responsibilities of the Federal Government covered under the Interstate Commerce Act, so I would expect a similar ruling. I don't think it will slow it down any and I would expect to see this in the US Supreme Court within the next 24 to 36 months.
