Just got back from a quick three day cruise with my wife and two kids. Decided to check to see if there was any poker in the casino. They held a $75 NL one table SNG (winner takes all), with unlimited $40 re-buy for first three levels and $40 add-on after. Start with $1000 in chips, R&A got you $1000. Blinds started at 25/50 and went up every 10 minutes.

Anyway got heads up in 1st SNG and decided to chop. I had chip lead so took $400 of the $650 prize pool. House took 25% off the top – ridiculous. 2nd SNG I was 4/4, then had all the chips in less than 10 minutes – shipped it for $750. Both of these took less than an hour, so if anyone happens to go on this cruise it might not be a bad idea to drop by for this. Cruise was $299 per person, so almost paid for the thing in a couple of hours – drinks not included.

They also spread a 1/3 NL game nightly. Not a lot of interest overall, I had to sit down with the dealer one night and chat for 45 minutes before anyone else would sit down. But again play was pretty soft, so money to be had there as well. Hope this provides a bit of info for anyone looking for some action on a cruise.

It's all variance. At least that's what I say whenever I win.

Ya, I've played some poker on cruise ships like that…..rake is usually insane but the awful players make it worthwhile.

I'm going on a cruise in a couple of weeks and have already investigated the poker possibilities. Would be very cool to get some +EV out of the deal. Might actually enjoy Bermuda while I'm there.
