Completely random but I'm wondering about how people come up with their handles both on here and on their online poker sites. Some are kind of obvious like “goleafsgo” but where did “Killingbird” originate or Ron Fez Buddy etc.
My handle on Lock and TPE is Dead7s from a home game tournament where I flopped Quad 7s and was drawing dead on the turn. I either limped or flatted with 77 in MP. HJ, BTN and one of the blinds called. Flop was 7s, 9s 7c. I check called. Turn was 8s. In my head it's a perfect card completing flush and straight draws and possibly boats. Hoping it looked like an overpair or flush draw, I check raised all-in. The HJ tanked for a bit before calling. Everyone else folded. I proudly turn over my 7s and the villain slow rolled 56 of spades. Villain was tanking hoping other draws got there. Worst beat of my poker career. Still have PTSD when I get dealt 7s.

I made my handle in 2005 when I was a big fan of the Ron and Fez radio show. They were big hits here in NY and then on XM. Buddy was a term they used a lot.
At this point I barely listen to them but the name has stuck..hard to get rid of it now!

Killingbird is a band that I played in when I still lived in Los Angeles. I picked it as my name when i was pplaying freerolls on pokerroom.com back in the day! Then I just kept on using it. In a way I kind of regret it…but only because when i google myself i get lots of band results and when the band (who still semi-exists) google their name they get lots of poker results. Not a big deal obv.

omg the good old pokerroom.com days…i used to play that on internet explorer browser!

as for myself, I was first EastLansing which was just the city i lived in. I was MakeItReign on stars, for some reason i thought it was a clever take on “Make It Rain” which was an overused phrase at the time. MovesLikeDarvin came from people asking if I was related to Darvin Moon (my last name is Moon), and the fact that I hate the Maroon 5 “Moves Like Jagger” song. So for w/e reason I mixed them.

That would be my guess too. As for my name, it is absolutley completely random. I needed a name, so i looked down at the newpaper in front of me and the caption was 'used stars' in reference to the rising popularity of the band 'The Used'. So i put that in and it stuck. The funny thing is i dont think i've ever listened to any of thier music.

My handle on here is my first name combined with the fact that I frequently seems to be short stacked, but seem to end up doing ok anyway. At a ft, I feel like I can be the most dangerous from the short stack. (not that I TRY to be the short stack)
I have several SNs on different poker rooms … Serveral are variations of “Sylver” which is short for Sylverious … An old DnD character (how is that for geeky?)
Another I use (and quite like ATM) is JlopeDaRippa … Several friends call me Jlope, or Jackalope, named after the horned bunny fame. I added the “darippa” when I was looking for something pokerish and its kind of a play on “Jack the Ripper”. Wish I had thought of this BEFORE I picked my handle for TPE as I like it better than SSJ.

Bennymacca is pretty obvious given my first name is Ben and my last name starts with a mc.
My other poker nickname is bennyjammer or bennyjams. That came about due to a pub game where I was always the most aggressive or spewy and going all in at any point in time became known as a bennyjam lol
on a lock/revolution skin, i am also 'pornhubFTW' which i believe to be self explanatory.

On most sites I'm Prophead or Prophead340 – which is shortened 'Propellor Head' which is a term used for people with a keen interest in propellor driven aircraft. As I'm I professional pilot of a turbo prop aircraft (Saab340) Prophead340 seemed reasonable. 'Turbulence' I really liked because it seems to encompass the ups and downs of MTT play / results and also the misery one can inflict on opponents (and ones self), and obvious aviation connection. I'm Turbulence_1 on 888.
