During the yesterday’s opening ceremony in London I found myself thinking about poker as an olympic sport. There is a lot of positive arguments and also lot of negative ones.
One of negative arguments is that poker is not a physical game and so there is no room for it. However when we look on other discplines, like shooting for example, it also looks to me more like game of skills than physical game.
On the other hand, it would be probably really hard to found good format to define the winner.
I googled two interesting articles about this topic:
…..sport-8700
…..id=4918780
I share the same opinion like Scott Huff in the second article: “I don’t think it ever will be, but I think it would be the best possible thing for poker: to present it as a strategy and logic game with the gambling taken out of it.”
What are your thoughts about it?

the problem is, i think it needs to fit into the “higher faster stronger” motto of the olympics and it doesnt.
sure, rythmic gymnastics or shooting dont' either. Because there is such a luck element as well i think that will ruin it, as you should be able to determine the clear best athletes in the field and you cant do that in poker
