We have a new addition to the Killingbird family, so figured I'd start a thread to see who has pets?

If you know me, you know im a dog lover.  We adopted Gibson about 10 months ago.  He rules.  Yesterday we brought home Izzy who is just a complete sweetheart.

She got hit by a car and broke her leg.  Owners could not afford the medical bills so they brought her to the SPCA.  Unfortunately it was to late to fix her so it healed wrong.  She'll likely always have a limp and is still rebuilding muscle and struggles with stairs and long walks, but she is awesome none the less. People were hesitant to adopt her because of the injury, but we took one look at her and knew she was coming home with us.

Ill throw a photo up in the very near future!

Had a Golden Retriever for 10 years and had to put him to sleep last year because his hips were completely gone. I plan on getting another Golden next year once I'm settled into a place which allows pets and I also own a 50 gallon aquarium which I want to fill with freshwater fish again.

Sorry to hear.  Goldens are such GREAT dogs.  I had a beagle for almost 18 years who we just had to put down 10 months ago (days before we got Gibson) so I know how hard that is.  Im sure you gave him/her an amzing life though, and thats all we can really do!

Thats awesome KB that you gave these animals a second chance.  I had a rotty and a boxer before we had kids. My son is allergic to almost anything so we havent gotten another dog but my daughter is hounding me.  We may try a small dog, I like french bulldogs.

Perhaps the most loyal and friendly dog I have ever known was my Dad's springer.  Every experience I have ever had with springers is that they are just amazing, amazing animals.  I would love to get me one some day!

There is a known joke that I like:  Dogs have owners, cats have staff.

I don't like cats very much too, but didn't have any considerable living with them. But I do love my dogs, 3 yorkshire terrier. They are part of the family here.

I had two great dogs for about 14 years.. Cooper aka 'chechebobos' was my boy and will be forever missed. His name lives on when I am grinding. I now have a killer fish tank 🙂

Casey has a mini dachshund named Nugget who I simply adore….she is so well behaved that it's unreal, not to mention incredibly affectionate!

I, on the other hand have a ragdoll cat named Oliver who I adopted from the Hamilton Animal Welfare Association. I can't imagine life without him, he is the most loyal cat I have ever owned. He loves the company of everyone at home and hates to be alone in a room so what he does is follow you around constantly, it's adorable!

When ever Casey and I go away, Nugget comes to stay at my house…she and Oliver are THE BEST OF FRIENDS!!! No joke! From the moment those two were introduced, they couldn't get enough of each other. They run around the house chasing each other, jumping on one another…it's incredibly how well they get along! I never thought that a cat and dog would be such great friends! 🙂

I also have a white dwarf rabbit named BasselBunny. He behaves more like a dog to be honest….but regrettably he is not good friends with Nugget. I have to keep him locked up when she is around because if she had her way, she would eat him. (She once took a big chunk of fur out of him attempting to bite him, luckily all she just got was his fur!)

My G/F and I have a Labrador / PitBull mix named Riley. She is almost 10 years old and we love her like she's our very own child (no kids for us, just dogs…IMO) She is my world and I would die without her. She goes everywhere with us and I swear she knows about 100+ words / phrases. Here is an example: Over the past few years, when we would get ready to take her for a walk she would get off the couch and do her stretches…so now, when we say 'ok lets go for a walk' she gets up and waits for us to say ' do your stretches ' and sure enough, on command, she stretches her front and back legs, goes to the kitchen to get a drink and grabs her toy before heading out..its so cute…

here are a few pictures of my world

I want my next dog to be a Saint Bernard or a Chesepeake Bay Retriever. Then I could sell my car and ride the damn thing to work every day. Petfinder.com gets addiciting when you decide you'd like a dog again.

Love the big dogs (not Casey, but he sure is dreamy)

I have an 18 month old Lab named Griffin (after Peter Griffin)

Absolutely love him, he is such a sook. the worst thing we ever did was my wife, when he was a pup, used to sit on the floor and let him sit on her lap for a cuddle. but now he is around 30kg he finds a bit hard to do that now, and he gets genuinely upset when he cant sit on your lap anymore.

i would 100% recommend labradors to anyone, as far as i am concerned they are the best dog breed in the world.

This is RJ…short for Reject.  She was rejected by her mother and the breeder took this newborn fur ball into the vet clinic where my now daughter inlaw was working, asking to put it down.  Instead, my daughter inlaw and the rest of the staff ensured this little bundle had a chance at life, bottle feeding it, ensuring it was healthy, and taking care of it when it couldn't even see anything.

She's never really been a 'puppy' in the sense she never had a litter to play with, so she's not too playful with other dogs, except her adopted brother, my stepson's and daughter inlaws monster.

http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i91/STR82ACE/Family/asdogs.jpgImage Enlarger

My daughter inlaw has 4 or 5 cats as well, and when RJ was with her animals, each cat would in turn, snuggle this newborn puppy and kept it warm and clean.  To this day, I think my dog believes she is more cat than dog because of it.

She's the greatest little collie.  Hates it when you say “Timmie's in the well?”.  Sends her right off the deep end.  And god forbid if she ever actually caught one of the many squirrels in our yard.
