What up TPE!? The past few months I have taken a break from poker. I thought for sure I was done. I felt like I lost my spirit for the game. A few weeks ago, I got the itch to play. So I drove up to my local casino and fired a bullet in one of their daily Sunday night tourneys. I never felt more alive playing poker! I felt like every decision I made was on point. I was more relaxed and focused. It was great. I realized that I like playing live poker way more than I like playing online. I tried to play online this weekend and couldn’t do it. I found myself just punting and I know it’s because I was bored. It was kind of strange to play after not playing for roughly 3 months. I feel like everything that I was learning 3 months ago, just sort of “clicked”. That’s not to say that I don’t have a lot more to learn, but I feel 100% more confident in my game. Has this ever happened to any of you?

Maniac,
I have to agree with you. I prefer a “live” game over online any day of the week, but the ease of just opening up the computer to play is also a great benefit. After a brutal 2018 I have cut down my online play considerably. I am enjoying it more and playing better. Sometimes its a good idea to step back and let everything you have learned sink in.
Good luck at the live events.

I debated jumping back into the online world a couple of months ago. Loaded up $100 and played low stakes stuff but it just didn’t get my juices flowing. I live 15 minutes from the Hard Rock in Tampa and they tend to run lots of good tournaments and the cash games are good. I grew up playing online but it just doesn’t do it for me anymore. I think you have a lot more information to go on live as well. I think I am pretty good and quickly gaging my opponents tendencies and picking up on small tells that are easy to notice when playing live. I also think the overall level of play is weaker live which makes it easier to turn a consistent profit.
Agreed, tightlywound! ? I have a hard time sitting still for long periods of time, and being around other people makes it that much more enjoyable. There’s something about staring at a computer screen that makes me want to fall asleep. Being able to gage your opponents in person is much more exciting. I too live close to my local casino in upstate NY. They have a bunch of really cheap daily tournaments that I can hone my skills at each week and still be able to make it to work the next day!
