Hey guys..not sure how many of you are married with kids but want to throw the topic out there for some help.  My wife is awesome – really understands poker schedules and is very supportive of my hobby/this business.  I’d like to do something nice for her this weekend.

On top of that, she called me earlier today because what she planned on getting me for father’s day couldn’t be kept a secret – it needed to coordinate some schedules.  She’s getting us tickets to the record release of one of our favorite bands – The Slackers (awesome ska band if you’re into that stuff).  So I feel like I need to do something just as thoughtful.

I always get her spa certificates (which she definitely loves) so I’d like to avoid the same old.  She’s not big on jewelery or really anything material.  I’m looking for something that is more about me being thoughtful than material.

Sounds cheesy, but my son and i once got my wife this coupon book from Hallmark.  It was full of coupons like breakfast in bed, day without anyone bothering her, massages, shopping day, etc.

My son really wanted it, i thought it was kind of hokey, but she ended up loving it and using it quite a lot.  It required me doing a ton of chores around the house though, so be prepared for that.

Anyway, looking forward to responses here because im in the same boat.

Two or three years ago I made a slideshow of her raising me through the years..  Def the best gift I ever put any effort into.

That’s a really nice idea… I was looking for something for my wife but I can have Hayden make something crafty for her that focuses on them growing up to this point, while i make the coupon book that derek was talking about.

Pretty sure she’d love that – combined with these flowers that i get from this artisan flower shop in port jeff.

god this is a good idea. i’m so thoughtless about other people, although to be fair i don’t really expect or like getting gifts that much.

anyway, i just moved in with my girlfriend, who has two boys. she’s been reminding me to send my mother a card and i’m literally just realizing reading this thread that i should get her something.

she’s a wonderful mother, as well as being a fantastic partner. she’s without a doubt the most supportive person in my life and i should take this opportunity to recognize how hard she works as a mother.

thanks, ron!

talked to my gf last night about it.

since i have to play on sunday we’re going to get up early and i’m going to make her breakfast and then as long as it’s nice we’re going to go for a walk or a bike ride or something.

i think it was enough just for her to hear me tell her that i understand that i’m pretty thoughtless about these things, but that i wanted to do something for her to celebrate how hard she works at being a mom and a great partner tbh.

thanks again.
