Anyone ever have trouble with blu ray movies and games freezing up on your ps3? I watched a vid on youtube showing how to clean the blu ray lens, did it, but its still ****ing up on me. Its about 3 yrs. old so no warranty, the older style ps3. I did restore factory settings and all that good stuff but its still acting up. I would ask someone on a tech forum but they would be speaking in another language to me. Based on what I describe, anyone know if it can be fixed fairly cheaply or do I have to get a new one?

I had the same problem with my PS3, I assume you have the bulky one. Eventually it stoped working, like you my warranty had expired but Sony charged me $125.00 to repair it. Basically they took my broken one and sent me a refurbished one. I did not like the bulky one the fan was so damn loud. I only had the refurbished one three months before I traded it in at Gamestop for the slim. They actually had a great deal going on $200 credit towards the slim for old bulky PS3.

My FAT ps3 died about a year ago. I remember my fan running really loud and games would start to freezeup. I then got the Yellow Light of Death and had no other choice but to buy a PS3 slim. I think it just overheated and fried something on the motherboard.
