Every “pro” at this site should be ashamed of themselves for giving false hope to those of us who are unlucky. Quit trying to tell ppl its skill cuz its not. I've done everything and think I'm a pretty decent player but the variance is just so high and i lose. I;m a wiining player by stats but not enough. 2000 tourneys of getting AK in v KQ and just losing to some other guy with a -60% ROI who cant lose a hand. If you guys were soooo good you wouldnt need to bleed money out those your sucking out on with a “training”site. Stop the arrogance. You act like it so easy but it's not. I find every one of those videos you guys run extremely well.
How about making a video of the other side where u lose 50 tourneys in a day getting it in 90% of the time good and just getting crushed. Better than making ppl believe theres skills in this game when there isnt. Just luck is all im saying because despite all the volume it all I see. Either I get lucky or I dont. no skill cuz everytime I use “skill” it let some ******* turn a draw and get it in and beat me. Well done for running good for a year and telling everybody you have fool proof strategies to win tourneys.
part of me wanted to not reply at all, but i'd rather just give a short and measured response and hopefully put an end to this thread and any others like it.
i don't like the original post anymore than i like seeing the author get flamed for it, and ask that anyone offering criticism to keep it constructive. if you don't have anything helpful to add, then just keep out of it.
the fact is, there are no good or bad poker players. there is only the decision in front of you and how you react to it. the “good” players seem good because they play a lot, do tons of work–like equity calcs and analysis in HEM/PT3–and are constantly working. they don't get down when they lose because they know that if they keep grinding and working that things will turn around.
the “bad” players make excuses instead of admitting that maybe there's something wrong with their game and setting their nose to the grindstone. but good players play bad all the time and bad players win tourneys everday. it's part of why this game is so beautiful. there is the perfect amount of luck and skill.
OP, i wonder how much time you've actually spent doing equity calcs, or if you've ever used your HEM/PT3 database of hands to see if you're losing money in spots you shouldn't (like with AK or with your 3bet shoves)? the fact that you use language like “everytime” and “can't lose a hand” makes me think that you have your mind wrong and makes me wonder if you are anywhere near as good and solid as you think you are.
learn to understand what expectation actaully means. getting it in with AK against KQ doesn't really mean anything. at the point of you getting allin, you were doing so against a range of hands, against which you had a certain equity. let's say that equity is 60%. that means you are going to lose 40% of the time. deal with it.
no one is offering the magic solution to beating MTTs. this game is hard work. “a tough way to make an easy living.” when i first made the jump to playing full-time (a process that took ~1 year of me working full-time and playing/studying pretty much every spare moment), a good friend told me to prepare to lose in worse ways than i could imagine. those words couldn't be more true.
if you're serious about winning then i suggest you check out that link that awake offered, and maybe read my article on dealing with downswings or RonFezBuddy's article “Stop Whining, Start Winning.”
best of luck to you.
Hagbard got this spot on, the true nature of this game is understanding how to play properly in a given situation. The more you analyze situations, understand plays and determine what would have been the correct play or the incorrect play the more you will see a difference in the outcomes. I would suggest getting involved in the community, bring in some HH's, some of the situations where you think that you are getting it in good and things didn't seem to workout. There are a ton of players on this site with a lot of insight and perspectives. We certainly do not all agree and the discussion could shed some light on things for you and help, I know it has for me. If that is too public for you, try looking to some of the members (the Study Group is a great place) or frequent posters in the forum and send them a PM with a HH or a question and maybe you can start to get some insight and direction to help you turn things around. There is not magic pill to solve this game and no one is offering it, especially here. The site and community are a group dedicated to helping learn and understand the neuances and intricacies of the game and allow us to grow as a group and develop our individual playing “edge”. If I may be so bold to suggest drop the rage for a month and get involved with the forums and see what happens, I am pretty sure you will notice some improvement and I know I for one would be more than willing to provide any help that I can to you. Good luck at the tables, hope to hear from you soon.

this sounds like something i would of said 2 years ago. that link is so +ev it hurts, thats the first time i saw it, had to read it. Just stick it out man and improve. think of it, not as fulltilt hating you for the bad beats……. i went for like 3 months thinking 100% that fulltilt will reward you for making the correct play, and it helped me play better, try tricks for yourself, i know how you feel man, i *unfortunately* have not binked a nice MTT since before i joined here, i have however crush 45-180s enough to still turn profit, and my deep couple run was fudged by own terrible play, or some dumb coin flip that you know you need to win and you just lose, it happens man, i feel like ive been playing absolutely amazing for the last 3 weeks, yet everytime i 3bet shove they have AA, and everytime i decide to value the river the wake up with literally the next best hand.. its poker my friend.. we love to hate this game, and we hate to love it. So open up that poker client, go to requests and click suspend from play for like a week, and just chill, clear your mind.
I know how it feels to lose a ton but it happens, yesterday i made the decision to play out of roll because i decided it was going to be a big day for me, a cpl min. cashes later and my online roll was 66% of what it was when i woke up.. oh well, you know what i did? withdrew, ill take the hundred i left myself, and bring it back to 1.5k roll, and then i can start playing real MTTs, you gotta have your own system, whatever works for you.
