Let’s say you have a flush draw, no overs so your equity is like 36%
You have 40,000 chips behind and the all-in is for 8,000.
That’s 20% of your stack, so this is a call right?
How do I know how much of my stack that I can call off profitably?
Where do I draw the line compared to my stack size. If it was an all in for 20k (50% of my stack) I’d fold.
At the table I can’t really punch numbers into a calculator, but If I could know a kind of rule of thumb calculation it would help.

I’m not an expert. But you’re looking at it the wrong way.
It’s the size of the pot that should make you call, or fold. Given the pot odds you recieve. Dont think you should put stack size (given that villain is all in already for hes stack) into consideration here, other then ICM spots.
If you think all your outs are good, and you have 36% equity, you should have 36% pot odds or greater to make a +evchip call.
If he have any bluffs in hes range etc, if you have additional outs for just hitting your card, you might not need 36% pot odds.
