This hand is another one from my trip. Let me set the stage, I am at a table with a few known, but not star poker players.
Windell from the Tunica ME final table that Dan N won. He was the guy who wore the rediculous teeth, cool guy, had played many tables with him. Also a kid who
ran deep in the ME last year…
Anyway, I had been a knit for 3 blind levels after doubling up with As on hand 3 of the tourney. I decided to open up my game and start playing some smaller
connected cards.
I am in mid position, blinds are 100 – 200, I look down at 64 and mini raise from early position with about 6k in
chips. The button and blinds call, each of them have me covered ever so slightly. 1600 in the pot, flop comes 457 rainbow. BB donk leads for 1050, I call
because of my outs, but know this is a dangerous situation as he could have anything, then the button shoves. I think this cat could be shoving light as he
had become VERY active on this blind level ammassing some chips. I immediately feel as though this was a squeeze play and am willing to call him if the BB folds.
BB folds, what do you do?
I fold this hand pre in early position all day. You only have 30 bb's so you shouldn't be opening this light, especially pre ante. When the flop comes like this, flatting the BB's bet is bad. I think you have to raise and get it in, you can't really expect to flop much better raising in early position with this hand. Once you flat, you can't really fold to a shove so as played I probably call. I avoid this situation overall by not opening this light pre ante.

+1 Couldn't have said it better myself this was exactly what I was thinking when I was reading your post.
Ok. I played this hand pre TPE membership……so that is my excuse 🙂
I opened too light and was not aggressive enough with the hand once I hit. The guidelines, right or wrong, I used for opening at the time;
1. I had been pretty tight so decided to change gears and start playing my suited connectors and one gappers from any position. I would not play paint connectors/gappers (KJ, KQ QJ, Q10, J10,J9) unless it was highjack or later.
2. I was willing to do this until the raise/call represented more than 10% of my stack.
After he shoved I did the math and decided I was never drawing dead. At the time, I figured I could hit trips, 2pair or the straight to win, so I called. I have identified this as a problem in my game, I did not have a plan in the event of a squeeze, which is why I should have shoved.
